See what I mean? You’ve helped make the point. You yourself just called someone else’s opinion “incorrect” that doesn’t agree with you on Jones. That’s not nice. Who says yours is? You think he wasn’t playing poorly others do. Those that don’t think he was poorly use all these super combative words and tell others they’re wrong, to make their point. And again, before anyone collars me, I don’t have an opinion of Curtis Jones, I’m only highlighting the player as I was asked to. He doesn’t play enough of a role for me to have an opinion on one way or the other.
I’m mildly surprised You and I are actually having such a granular discussion about what this means, you’ve been here and TIA a long time. You know exactly what I mean.
EDIT: since we are just putting our opinions out there, truthfully at the end of the day it doesn’t make much difference to my life which players get shade and which do not. They are millionaire athletes playing child’s game and we spend time discussing them. I know none of these personally, and none of these guys has ever put food on my table or paid a utility tax of mine so what do I care? It’s all a bit silly really.
No-one says my opinion is right or wrong, it’s my opinion. Just like I can say I disagree with anothers, stating theirs as incorrect.
I used Jones because you indicated he gets a free pass, which I gave you literal evidence of the opposite.
Honestly, I don’t get it, you are throwing words around like whataboutisms which seem total hyperbole to what is actually being discussed.
Mo is out of form, the stats literally back up that “opinion”. To then discuss the reasons for that on a forum don’t really seem as some co-ordinated attack on Mo but a normal general discussion.
So all is clear as this forum is full of wums taking comments out of context.
“IN MY HUMBLE OPINION”
Is Mo worldclass? Yes
Is Mo suffering a run of poor form for his standards since the AFCON? Yes
Does Mo come across as a bit arrogant in his media comments? Yes, I’d be staggered if Mo wasn’t a bit arrogant, the entire team all are just as confident. Why wouldn’t you be…
Is Mo’s agent a twat who is giving his client bad advice? 100% Yes
Do I want Mo to sign a new contract and continue to be one of our greatest players ever? Yes
As you edited. your last point 100000% mate. It’s a forum, they are all opions, just because certain words are used instead doesn’t change that. I’m sure Mo doesn’t go home after a game and cries reading TAN posts. The last thing everyone should do is point score other fans over a player who earns more than we all will in 1 year v’s our lifetime.
Dear TAN readers,
Mo here. I’m using my mate Craig Johnston’s account because I can’t be arsed to set up my own. I often peruse this site looking for positive comments about my footballing genius, and mostly I find it very satisfying for my ego. Lately there have been a few negative comments which have hurt my feelings and I have even shed the occasional tear. In those sad moments I like to cheer myself up by reading PeachesEnRegalia’s hilarious posts, or laughing at Klopptimist’s political views.
Anyway, see you all at Wembley.

Keeping the fans onside is a balancing act. Imagine he announces he’s leaving at the end of his contract. But 2 months into his final season he picks up a niggly injury which seems him limited in what he can do on the pitch and to the fans at least, he looks like he’s not trying. So for the remainder of the season the crowd boos him because he’s ‘already at the beach’ (or new club). Cue death threats and whatever else the true nutters get up to.
I don’t recall a player ever announcing his departure a season in advance as it carries a lot of risks. And the only player that would try such a thing would be one with an unlimited number of good will credits built up with the fans.
Jones and Keita get defended because there’s a disproportionate amount of nonsense written about them. There are a handful of posters who will highlight every single error either make and offer no praise in return.
The same posters all seem to ‘stan’ Chamberlain and do the opposite with him. Crunch time of the season, who is Klopp turning to? I think that says it all.
Through all of this though, if Mo says he wants a longer, more lucrative contract now… I’d be a lot less sure about it than I was about 2 months ago.
The longer this slump goes on, the more worried I would be. I think he still has a couple great years left in him. But longer term, let’s say for 4 or 5 years? I’ve got more doubts.
Can you please tell your mate Craig to get off his ass and design a new boot - my son is starting to play but he will need revolutionary boot technology to make him great. Thanks!
PS. If you’re still undecided about signing a new contract ask Phil how he likes Birmingham, what Emre makes of Turin and how happy Gini is about being able to drop into those Parisian boutiques after watching Ligue Un home games.
Salah takes excellent care of his body. There is nothing to suggest that he won’t maintain his level for at least 3 more years. He’ll bounce back from his slump and the floodgates will open again.
I just hope he does it before the season’s end, namely right the fuck now.
The boot’s been designed. Just waiting for the marketing people to come up with a new name. The old one is a bit dodgy these days.
Not sure if they’ll help your lad though, not if his role model continues to be Harry Maguire.
Dear Mo, I wrote you but still ain’t callin’
I left my cell, my pager, and my work phone at the bottom
I sent two offers back in autumn, you must not’ve got ‘em
There probably was a problem at with Abbas or somethin’
Sometimes I scribble offers, too sloppy when I jot 'em
But anyways, fuck it, what’s been up? Man, how’s the Kloppmen?
I like to scout youth men who score too, I’m 'bout to be sign one from Fulham.
If I have some more luck guess what scot we’re after?
We’ll call him Ramsay, he’s as good as Andy
I read about you losing the AFCON, I’m sorry
I had a friend who lost the FA cup once, he never recovered
I know you probably hear this every day, but I’m your biggest fan
I even got the underground shit that you did with Basel
I got a room full of your posters and your pictures, man
I like the shit you did with Roma too, that shit was phat
Anyways, I hope you get this, man, hit me back
Just to chat, truly yours, your biggest fan
This is JulIAN…
I get the perspective. Even when he is not playing well there is so much faith in Mo to deliver based on how often he has in the past. But I think leaning on that idea is part of the reason we’ve got here because he’s played a lot of minutes recently that seem to be based far more on that historical faith than on present performances and it feels like the more he plays the further we are getting away from good performances. Maybe there is recency bias in play given how disappointed I was about his performance against Spurs, but we’re definitely at a point where we need to consider other options.
It used to happen routinely. Transfers for the following season would regularly be finalized and announced in the spring
Cool. Yeah ‘predator’ seems out of fashion for some reason, what about something more modern like the ‘blue cheater’ (with the logo of a fully sick cheeta of course) Kinda like getting unofficial sponsorship in the UK - although probably need another name for the European market.
Btw, wtf are you on about about Harry Maguire? My son’s role models are PL greats of course - Erik Meijer and Torben Pichnik. In fact I’ve told him even if he just learns to trap a ball half as well as Erik or follow tactical instructions and adapt defensively a quarter as well as Torben, then one day I think he could captain united away at Moldova in the conference league: unfortunately I think this may have scared him into trying Aussie Rules instead
I think that the fact that Mané has a different way of playing CF than Firmino is impacting Salah. I do not remember the game but when Origi came on he delivered him an assist by fixing the defence for him by positioning himself close to the goal.
Plus probably a lack of confidence or media noise about his contract, he is trying too much especially now that he has always 2 or 3 players around him as soon as he is touching the ball.
I just hope he will find his form again for the remaining fixtures. He still is one of our most important player.
