Yeah Klopp will probably update in tomorrows press conference (I assume it’s tomorrow as the game is Tuesday).

In a funny way, a nice enforced break before the final could be just the tonic Mo needs.

Off the charts amazing before AFCON.
Heartbreak, and 4 x 120 min games, carrying the hopes of nigh on 100M Egyptians.
Returns to Prem and does his work for LFC.
Not quite hitting previous heights, possibly exacerbated by Ramadan too?
But still solid and threatening.

Now an enforced break, before a big final, and a chance at revenge.

As the great George Formby once said, surely when thinking of this season for Mo, “It’s turned out nice again!”

He was like 9/10 before Afcon, he is still at 7.5/10 and playing for the team, plugging away. It will not be fair to expect him to be at full throttle throughout the season. That’s the beauty of Klopp’s squad, someone always step up to the mettle. That’s why we are a team and some are just a group of millionaire players.

If, as reported, Mbappe is near to signing a new contract at PSG, who will Real Madrid turn their attention to? Mmm  I wonder.

Well if it’s confirmed within the next week, it will obviously be reported as Mo, Mane and Diaz, but n reality it will be Todd Haaland.

Looks like he will see out his contract.

I think I’d rather sell this summer than have him leave on a free, if they are the two options.

Still, Mo will do what he wants, and if we keep him another season and he remains focused and fit, it’s not an awful option!

Agree.

And that’s what I think will happen. MBappé has just confirmed he’s staying at Paris so Madrid will be looking at alternatives , Salah being the obvious one. If a decent bid comes in I think he goes.

I’m exactly the opposite, honestly. The “value” (on the pitch) of Salah at Liverpool for one more season is worth more than all but an absurd transfer fee, imo.

His value will have been amortized so it will be a negligible accounting loss, but I could see us signing two very good players with the dough.

Eg Darwin Nunez and Antony from Ajax.

Nunez gives a robust focal point (he’s much more than that) as Origi departs.

Antony a left footer from the right, pace trickery, about to go up a level too, probably.

In all of this the say so is mostly with the player, and Mo will do what he will do.

I think Mo has inadvertently shafted himself this year when it comes to his quest to win the Ballon d’or. It would have been perfect timing with the way Liverpool have performed this year.

IMO it’s all linked to the best player in the world, pay him whatever he wants comments (starting at the City goal), which has probably led to contract demands being altered (or made him inflexible), which has gone on to effect his form that has seen a dramatic fall off since that time of year. Adding to this, the disappointment of losing AFCON, then losing WC entry. It feels like he has been his own worst enemy.

I think it’s most likely to be Benzema for the award, regardless of the CL result. Mane a close second, and maybe winning it dependent on the result (Afcon, yes, FA, yes, LC yes, PL maybe, CL maybe).

6 months ago Mo a shoo-in for the award, Benzema and Mane not even on the radar.

The difference between Mo and Mane, is that Mane (same contract situation), has gone about his business quietly and has even (once again IMO) helped him. 6 months ago most of us would have willingly sacrificed Mane for the team in order to improve. Now, not so much (not at all). While Mo is more globally recognized, it doesn’t mean he (and agents / business managers) have to behave in the way he has done this year (media pov). Doing things in a way that Mane has, would have helped him tremendously imo.

On a side note: I think Jurgen would be ok with him leaving, only from the perspective that he has had 4 fantastic years with him, and under his previous managerial positions, Mo would have been sold 3 years for financial reasons.

I couldn’t care less whether Mo winds the Ballon d’or or the golden boot or any other individual award. What matters is what liverpool win. The less talked about individual awards the better. Hopefully we can win the quad somehow and then Real etc can offer us silly money and we can say thanks and goodbye to Mo and make our team even stronger.

It’s always an ego thing for the players, the supporters of the team care but not at all when compared to success of team. I like Manes approach (if quote was true), that the award wouldn’t help feed his village.

We know MO’s form before the Afcon was red hot and been lukewarm in comparison since…
Yes he had the intensity of the games and pressure from his home country to perform, but since he has come back he has needed rest as well keeping a good rhythm in his play… so not sure how he was supposed to do that actually. Then we have his gobby agent stirring the shit over his ‘will he won’t he sign’ contract… But amongst all this, and it might just be a coincidence… we signed Luis Diaz who has performed well beyond expectations… Been wondering if the signing of Diaz has disrupted and somehow been instrumental to MO’s lack of goals in the latter part of this season…??
