Mohamed SALAH: 2021/22

Nah that’s utter bullshit.

He was doing just fine in expected goals/assists until rather recently, and has been assisting quite a fair bit still regardless. He’s only fallen off a cliff finishing-wise, but that’s also to do with the amount he’s been playing this season (still quite a fair bit more than Mané). All the contract talk didn’t change anything, it was AFCON, and the multiple games with extra time that he played.

No it’s not. It’s far more feasible than your reading of it. It’s obvious that his lack of form is more down to a psychological problem rather than a physical one. Klopp has even alluded to it himself.

Tiredness isn’t just a physical issue but affects the mind too, which is probably how it is impacting Mo. In addition to the mental fatigue, I think Mo is so eager to do well, that when he isn’t scoring goals he begins to second think himself - it’s that which I think Klopp maybe alluding to and little or nothing to do with his contract.

He did specifically mention the contract negotiations though.

I think we have a plan if he goes for free unless we are blown out of the water with a deal then I’d keep him, we’d just get fleeced for more if we got say £100m

I agree. And the point is there will be no absurd fee. We wouldn’t get over £100m on a player with 1 year left. IMO a bit under that as well.

I’m not sure he will remain next year simply because I would have expected a bit more transparency by now between Mo and the fans so that the relationship will remain amicable, which is pretty essential when said player doesn’t see his long term future at the club. But absolutely I would prefer that extra year of Mo over a half decent but not massive fee.

I am comfortable either way.

But will be disappointed in Salah. I can’t help put my self in his shoes

  • playing for the best manager in the world
  • multiple trophy winning season, and will likely win more.
  • Already one of richest players in the world (personal wealth of approx 90m)
  • Fan base that loves and supports him
  • Plays in a system designed to get the best from him.

His options are PSG, Madrid, Barca, Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern, and Manchester City. Although we are biased are they really better for him ?

Bale, Hazard, Griezmann, Coutinho, Torres, Neymar. Football is littered with players at the top end who regret moves. I bet you even Messi regrets going to PSG.

What he gives up for a few more dollars will be legacy. He can solidify himself as a club legend by finishing his career here. I am not so sure if he moves.

I think the pre and post afcon number speak for themselves. I’m confident the that it’s been a knock on effect of those 3 things (contract, afcon, World Cup). Assists and Goals have dropped off dramatically, while his other attributes he brings have probably stayed consistent.

I think its difficult as a person, not to be swept up by the hype surrounding yourself. I expect the current Mo and future Mo (if he signs for us), will be dramatically different in a positive way.

Antony, we don’t need a diver and a cheat

It’s simple. If he comes, Klopp will straighten out that possible tendency before it grows. He will conform to what is expected at Liverpool.

If he doesn’t sign, he may well prove to be a diver and a cheat!

I was trying to think of left footers, who play from the right, who have some pace about them too. He isn’t elite, but I get the impression he could easily kick on under Klopp and be world class.

Anyway, let’s see what happens with Mo. He might sign. He might wind his deal down. Or we might sell. It’s all up for grabs.

Would be absolutely delighted… NOT,
if I went to show my appreciation to the boys in the bus parade, only to see MO sitting next to that dog turd of an agent of his… they seem to be joined at the hip for some reason!

It does say “possibly”, I don’t think they’ve actually been linked to Mane at all and I would expect if Salah was to go Mane would stay.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Real who have now lost out on Mmmbop sign Mo in the summer on a 3 year deal while they wait for the one they really wanted.

I’ve said all along he won’t sign a new deal. But I am disappointed in him because he is walking out of the best club, manager, fans in the world and it’s all down to greed. (Can’t imagine it’s the length of the deal).

Mo just needs to look at Countinho .

I don’t suppose it would, the cost of food in Waitrose these days, is horrendous!

Where?

And why is this not plausible? He’s approaching the age at which we didn’t want to give Wijnaldum the extended contract he wanted.

I’m with you on this.

Salah has no World Cup next season. From August to December, he’ll be knocking them in as usual. Then when others go off to Qatar (FIFA tainted in blood with all the deaths), Mo can put his feet up. Then after a nice break, he’ll be fresh for the second half of the season (of course, so will Haaland).

That alone is worth keeping him to see out his contract.

You don’t shatter the club’s financial structure to appease one player. Even if it is Mo Salah.
