Mohamed SALAH: 2021/22

Each to their own, but I’d far rather keep him for another season than sell now. He’s been jaded after his early season heroics and AFCON. I think he’s gonna come back after a summer rest and tear the PL apart. If he can give us a big final season like Suarez did, win the league with a month to spare, then he can go :+1:

Am I the only one who doesn’t see how he would want to move to Real Madrid, particularly given his recent words about revenge?

How does Diaz replace Mo when he plays on the left?

We have no one who is even half as effective as Mo on the right.

Big decisions for the club do we sell for 100 m or keep and get nothing next season. Thats if he doesn’t sign new contract of course. Personally I would be inclined to sell and invest in new players.

Yes I didn’t mean as in positionally, I meant as our talisman.

His plot is to make them spend 150mil on him and then play like shite for them and then sell him back to us the following season for 8m.

Would love Son in a red shirt.

Did extremely well to catch Salah

I think we will be fine either way. Sell, and we reinvest - Darwin Nunez and Antony for example, giving an upgrade on Origi and focal point in attack, plus a pacy left footer on the right, who looks like he might kick on to world class.

Or keep Mo for another season, a consummate pro, always fit, motivated, and as mentioned, no World Cup for him.

Personally I would do the first option if given a choice, but neither one is bad.

I like Son ability wise, but he’s a bit of a snide cunt on the sly.

Darwin Nunez would be a very good signing

Nothing wrong with that in the right measures

I’d keep him. We were 16-3-0 in the PL in 2022. We will win the league if we keep him.

Before Afcon he was 10 behind Mo.

Have to say this has played on my mind a bit.

So he a Coutinho having been hanging out a lot recently?

What do people expect our net spend over the next couple years to be? 60M per year? That is not enough to rebuild our aging midfield and forward line

If we let Mo go for free… we need to get a good fee for Sadio or Firmino or we get weaker unless our youth steps up in a big way.

And between Sadio and Mo… sorry, but I would choose the more committed.

Hence, I’m all for selling Mo if he doesn’t want to sign. Frankly, I feel like we are more important to him than he is to us.

How much did it cost to build said midfield and forward line…? Think your idea of what we will spend is way overboard.

We have already signed heir apparents for 2/3 and have Carvalho coming in to compete along with Eliot. The front line rebuild is very much under way. We can continue to be selective and look for value in the market - as well as grab a big player if there is the opportunity. I think a mid-fielder is more like to be the prime focus this summer unless Mo actually does leave. There there might be more spent on a 100% ready day one replacement… but even then that might not happen.

Why do you think it needs a rebuild?

Elliot, Jones, Carvalho are all 21 and under.
Jota, Diaz, Gordon are all 25 and under.

The squad needs tweaks to replace single players but wholesale “rebuilds” are just no longer required.
