Jurgen would make a couple of signings and change the whole way we playā¦
Donāt want to see MO move away obviouslyā¦ We should try everything we can to keep himā¦
In the meantime, I am just enjoying the journey in front of meā¦
We remain in good hands while Jurgen is hereā¦ but lets see what happens eh and worry nearer the time
Sorry, no, it is appreciated how good Salah is playing.
But Iām not buying the idea that we fall apart without him. The squad is full of top players and has a top manager and would be fully able to compete at the top.
Liverpool allows Salah to flourish as much as Salah helps Liverpool. Weāre not a one man band like youāre trying to suggest.
I have never thought of it as a āmajorā trophy, though I guess I would not call it a minor trophy either. It is not the league, the European Cup, or the FA Cup. But it isnāt the Charity Shield either. I guess it is one of those āknow it when I see itā definitions like ābig clubā.
However, even if you allow it as one of the majors, Torres never won one at all - which was a thought that really is hard to believe when you think back to how superb that team was.
Didnāt say weād fall apart. Said we would need to restructure.
There isnāt a player on the planet we could buy and stick at right wing who would have such a positive impact on our goals like Salah does.
We lose Salah itās a rebuild. Itāll happen one day but Klopp has limited time left here, if he is putting together a new team, new formation or new tactics next summer or summer after to rebuild us in a way that copes without Salah that limits what can be achieved in Klopps remaining time here.
A season or two later the TEAM without Salah may be as strong or stronger than the TEAM that had Salah in. But it may be quite a different set up to achieve the same level of attacking capability without him in it.
Like I said in a previous post, itās a set up weāre already evolving towards. We wouldnāt need any radical change in tactics or a significant rebuild.
Pre-Salah with Bobby, Mane and Coutinho we were playing some pretty nice football.
Had we a world class GK, CB and CDM at the time, Iām sure that team without Salah couldāve been a success. He isnāt the sole reason for our recent success.
Critical thing is that if he does leave, we need to replace him with an outstanding player but not āThe Next Salahā You can never replace a player, you can only get a new player (or promote) to play in a similar position and adapt the squad / tactics to suit. English cricket wasted decades trying to replace Botham and more recently Flintoff (and were the worse for it) instead of making the most of who they actually had. Although take a bow Ben Stokes.
Salah negotiations may well be progressing hand in hand with watching the availability of others that may come inā¦ Mbappe for egā¦ Strengthens the bargaining power of LFC if they are ready to implement an immediate contingencyā¦
For what it is worthā¦ I hope Salah signs and he remains with us beyond Jurgen
Evolution not revolution? The constant evolving of the team is one thing but the replacement of Salah in the current set up means it no longer functions. It wouldnāt be the fault of the replacement, pretty confident Klopp and the recruitment team would get a decent player in. But say last year we had two Sadio Manes instead of Salah, we wouldnāt have been in the CL this year hurting our progress and ability to compete, certainly compete in the CL which is going very well this year. And thatās Mane a world class winger.
Salah goes I legitimately believe we would need to completely change things. Find a way to get a goal scoring number 10 into the side, or move Firmino on too and bring in a goal machine of a CF. Or flip to 4231 (which Iāve always felt Klopp would prefer if possible anyway). All of those options also rely on a top quality Salah replacement too.
But we arenāt talking about a slow, steady, Evolution of the existing side here. We are talking completely changes and restructuring that takes a year or two to be brought to fulfilment. Klopp doesnāt have that time to have a rebuild year. Not on current time frame.
Absolute disaster would be losing Salah in Summer 2023 as currently we lose Klopp Summer 2024. Itād mean Klopps final season spent trying yo put something in place that works without Salah leaving us with less chance of winning successes then the new manager taking over in 2024 for a transition year and the start of a new project.
Im so tired of hearing about the magical 4-2-3-1 from you. Klopp played it at dortmund out of necessity. The 4-3-3 is here to stay as long as we have 2 of the best fullbacks in the world. It is the far superior formation to implement our fundamental style of play to ensure we win the ball back high up the pitch.
Now onto Salah, we will not have to rebuild if he departs. That is a massive disservice to the other 10 starters that currently wear the shirt. We will have to evolve, but that happens every summer during preseason. That is why preseason is Kloppās favorite time. He gets to implement all the tweaks and changes he needs to progress the side. The only thing we can agree on, is that we will not let him leave for free. He signs before the summer or he goes in the summer.
Genuine question, not trying to be arsey, have you watched many games this season?
Describing our midfield as āworkmanlikeā and thinking weād have to switch to using a #10 makes me wonder. The overloads Henderson and Keita have created from that right hand ā8ā position have led to more chances than you can count.
Weāve got runners from midfield, a threat from the full backs, Mane and Jota up top looking dangerous and even Firmino finding chances and scoring goals far more easily than he has done for any season since 17/18 (6 goals scored at a rate of a goal every 86 minutes).
Iām honestly a bit perplexed at your post, weāre attacking extremely well as a team and the idea that weād have to rip all of that up because of one player is laughable to be honest.
Yeah we are playing fantastic, a big part of that though is down to how well Salah is doing and itās burying our heads in the sand to ignore the impact a departure of him would have. I put the numbers above;
Sorry, your takes in this thread are really poor. Iām not convinced youāve even watched us this season so I donāt see the point in continuing the discussion, I can google the stats myself.
Salah relies on his teammates more than the stats would suggest. You canāt just blindly post goal contributions and say heās carrying us along on his own, thatās not how football works.
Last season is a prime example. Salah was magnificent, our best player, and the main reason we finished 4th. His numbers were superb, 22 goals and 6 assists in 37 games in the league. Incredible.
But in the time period after we beat Palace we struggled for a long time. The football was terrible; slow, aimless, lethargic. Salah scored 4 goals in 15 games in that period, with no assists. So for as good as he is, and as good form as he was in, he wasnāt able to stop the rot. His numbers dropped, he became a peripheral figure in many games.
He canāt and he doesnāt do it all on his own. Heās the most prolific, the most important forward we have, but donāt be fooled into belittling the contribution of the rest of them.
