We wouldnt.
Last year it would have been Traore.
Its mind boggling to think that Salah is as easily replaced as you think.

Everyone also missing the main point that itās not losing Salah or Klopp but maybe Edwards who pushed Salah onto Kloppā¦
If we donāt replace Salah with a player of the exact same standard we will not win anything.
Hence why weāve won nothing since Gerrard retired, weāre still looking for a midfielder who can replicate what he did.
Itās mind boggling that you think the same team we have with another high class player instead of Salah couldnāt compete at the top level.
Again, thereās nothing to suggest that the rest of the team running recruiting, especially the analytics guys, wouldnāt still have done the same.
Tongue in cheek! We could start looking at the impact of replacing Doris the tea lady nextā¦
That went over my head unfortunately, because I was arguing with someone else before in the Michael Edwards thread about this same issue. They were acting as though his departure meant that we would completely abandon analytics, when the guy who devised all our analytics is still hereā¦
We didnt replace him we adjusted and got a few great players, Fabinho being one and Thiago.
We wonāt simply replace Salah either.
Haha was more a point that there are a lot of variables.
Another take is maybe seeing why Salah has gone up a level this seasonā¦ and ask wonāt a replacement have similar gains?
Trent and Salah both have embraced this new stuff and it showsā¦ all marginal gains of this clubā¦
And thereās no evidence that we wouldnāt. Itās an opinion. But itās based on the evidence of everything weāve seen over the last 6 years rather than hyperbolic statements about how heās the best in the world and is impossible to replace.
Remember when it was impossible to replace Giniās minutes because of all the stats you had about how much he played and how little everyone else played and it was impossible unless we spunked a load of money on a new signing?
Thing is about football is that there can be many ways to skin a cat. We often talk about replacing x number of goals and assists from player y without looking at the team contribution from front to back. For example, Salah contributing out of his skin like he does with a defence that we had in Rodgers time would mean absolutely nothing as it panned out for Suarez. At the same time, Salahās contribution could be lessened but the results of the team could be maintained by having someone like Lewandowski. Then there is the possibility of a more fluently goal scoring midfield along the lines of the ones that United and Arsenal had during their great rivalry. It would require a restructure of the team, yes, but it can be done.
Thus, simply saying we need to replace Salah is to ignore the fact that football is a team sport and a change of style to be more effective elsewhere can often make up for what has been taken away without actually replacing like for like. Now all this is not to say that I want him to leave, just that I do think we can make up for it if and when that happens with the solution often being one that we as fans did not anticipate. When Coutinho left there was big clamour for us to replace him, including from myself at various stages who thought that an attacking midfielder would be a good addition. Instead, we shored up the defence, reinvented the dynamic of the front three, completely changed our playmakers to the Left and Right Back positions (nobody saw that) and settled on a solid but relatively unspectacular midfield to hold it all together. As a result its Coutinho who?
I think we need to stop stressing and the increasingly spicy to and froās on here. We all have valid points but whatever will be will, lads. I personally think Klopp leaving is the more daunting prospect in our future.
How can you not name one of our greatest captains ever as someone who replaced Gerrard.
He was here at the same time as Gerrard, so I didnt see him as a replacement to the gonest
Great post.
Also with this in mind, itās perhaps worth pointing out that despite Salah going from 46 league āgoal contributionsā in 17/18 to 33 in 18/19 (having played 300 more minutes), Liverpool added an extra 23 points to the tally. The next season he dropped to 30 goal contributions and we added another point.
Heāll blow 18/19 and 19/20 out of the water this season too but we wonāt get close to 98 or 99 points. Football is a bit more complex than the performances of one player directly correlating with team success.
Salah at Liverpool was a big leap from the Salah at Roma, it isnt all Salah, it is our total attacking ethos that Mo is benefitting from, althought Moās fitness and never say die attitude certainly helps
So in essence, itās about finding the player with the right fit? Which is what our recruitment has been doing rather well since 2016ā¦

That should be the long and short of it.
There is definitely a case of group think especially in regards to players with some posters jumping on the bandwagon with players who are the current easy target and will get them a like by slating them in match threads. Even though these players are actually having a good game.
It is always about that with our messiah aka Klopp

I remember when people were talking about how Ferguson would replace Ronaldo, my Man United-supporting mate was pretty confident, almost smug about the prospect of the team being built around Rooney (even though he hated the fact that Rooney wasnāt the sexy forward Ronaldo was, with stepovers, backheels and stuff). That said, he expected Ferguson to sign someone much better than Valencia but that low-key summer turned out quite alright for them in the long term.
That said, I like the way this team is set out to play but I guess that the tactical plan will always be tweaked to get the best out of certain players, Salah being the prime example of it. Without him, maybe the powers that be at the club would buy a wide player whoās more of a playmaker than a striker and then build the team around a new centre forward (or deem Jota good enough to score thirty goals every season).
