Mohamed SALAH: 2021/22

Salah had a 7 weeks summer vacation, he is fine.

I think this is sometimes overstated.

We have become much better at figuring out how to maintain peak levels of performance into the 30s, and with the sort of athlete and professional Mo is I have no doubt this will apply to him.

However, what is immutable is that recovery capacity changes. The athlete may still be able to hit the same physical heights, but the amount of time between those big efforts has to change. That means a player like Mo either accepts missing more games, or works less in the games he plays (so the amount of work he does in it is recoverable). No matter how “fit” an athlete remains, he cannot go to the well with the same level of effort as often in their 30s as can be done in their 20s.

Garth Crooks has no doubt written to FIFA asking why none of Antonio, Foden or Saka feature in their final three.

Can Crooks count to three?

To Salah, it’s about more than the money. It’s about recognition

I’m not a native speaker but I know what the word recognition means. From who does he not get (enough) recognition? Can’t be the fans or Klopp, is it from FSG?

He literally wants to break our wage structure and says it’s not about money. Hush your gums Mo, if it wasn’t about money you’d have signed fucked ages ago.

He is referring to those running the administration of the club.

Mo is a truly amazing player, but we should not be held to ransom by him.

He’s the best player in the world currently and wants to be recognised as such in his salary. He probably resents donkeys at United and Chelsea earning more than him.

I’m not trying to justify this. He already had more money than he’ll ever need. But this is how footballers seem to think and is pretty clear from his recent statements

What’s with the Salah bashing all of a sudden. He hasn’t said anything disappointing or that we didn’t know already. I have no idea how that headline can be ‘breaks wage silence’ as it he said its in the hands of the Club quite a while back.

Fuck the media, in all honesty.

Everyone ignoring what’s actually been said I see;

“revealed he is not asking for ‘crazy stuff’ in his new Liverpool contract”

I dont that means anything of value though - he isn’t going to come out and say he is asking for crazy money is he.

They’ve also flat out denied he is paid as much as believed.

I dont think anything reliable can be taken from those comments other than a deal still hasn’t been agreed.

He may not be asking for a higher wage, but for a more favourable structure for example. We simply don’t know - and that is even if his comments are accurate in the first place.

Considering everything he’s done for us and what we’ve achieved thanks massively to his contributions he’s never really had the overwhelming love and adulation you’d expect from some fans. Up till this season some would openly argue he wasn’t one of the best in the world. I feel like this is like Rodgers. When doing well polite applause and gritted teeth. As soon as something to criticise absolute toxicity.

I love how everyone just takes what he is saying as truth, he is clearly relaying what his agent wants him to say.

It’s bullshit soundbites to tap into the anti-FSG online mob, get clicks and push an agenda.

If Mo wasn’t asking for “anything crazy” he would have a new contract signed when negociations started.

It’s been realiabilty reported he is using the contract De Bruyne recently signed as the benchmark. For clarity as facts seem to be lost a lot, that is well over DOUBLE what he currently earns per week basic.

About 3 weeks ago Klopp said during a presser that he has the feeling that things will work out but that contracts like this will take time, in Klopp I trust. :+1:
