So you’ll ignore what he has said and use meaningless speculation from people who know fuck all but like to talk big so you can take shots at our best player?
There’s loads of reasons why it might not be about money but not signed yet! Two reasons that could come under “appreciation”;
Possibility 1; Contract length, we know this has been a stickler in contract talks a couple of times and it’s taken a while to resolve (or hasn’t been resolved) with players getting into their 30s like he will be during the contract.
Possibility 2; One thing we apparently tend to do with our contracts is the final year is paid at lower rates than the previous ones. At his current level and not asking for anything “crazy” I can imagine that not sitting right with someone who can be paid far more elsewhere than being agreed.
Whatever the case may be for some reason I’m willing to believe the best in the guy wearing our shirt and at times carrying our attack and team to greatness. Some are willing to believe the best in cut throat businessmen who are motivated by increasing their own bank balance and journalists whose motivation is to have something that will stir up online traffic and paper sales. I see nothing wrong with where my loyalty lies.
Where did I ignore it? I said he is saying what he’s being told by his agent and it’s structured in a way to get the chicken little crew losing their shit.
I love how your loyalty is to one player, mine is to the club, it’s been here a lot longer than Mo.
Don’t agree with this at all. He absolutely does have the love and adulation of the fans. Most of the debate on this forum is where he ranks in our best ever top 3. I haven’t seen any toxicity at all from within the fan base
Not to one player no. But to me the club isn’t the businessmen currently making hundreds of millions from owning us so they can buy more sports enterprises. It’s Klopp, the coaching team, the staff, the players and the fans.
Mane has never been better than him he’s just been more popular and a period where he briefly scored more goals in 6 months and tied the golden boot was used as reasoning why people got behind that idea. Salah, at his worst season since joining, matched Mane goal for goal in his best. But Salah has always been under appreciated for his chance Creation, assists and pressing high up the pitch/causing ball overturns (player with most pressures leading to goals). Mane got the plaudits for a good second half of the season and his defensive work but Salahs good first half of the season and defensive work were ignored/taken for granted.
Ok, should have said he performed better for one season, when he was our best defender and attacker. I don’t agree that this makes Salah under-appreciated. He’s been loved since he first kicked a ball for us.
I don’t think there’s any need for anyone to be losing their shit right now with either FSG or Mo. Maybe FSG are being tight bastards or maybe they just want to be seen to be negotiating hard on what is obviously an exceptional contract. Mo is rightly asking for a contract that recognises him as being one of the best players in world football. Nothing wrong with that. He would be a fool not to.
I’m still hopeful it’ll be sorted out. I’m sure FSG will know that the fallout will be immense if it’s not and some sort of compromise must be reached.
He wasn’t the best attacker. It shows just how much more popular than Salah Mane is that that’s the narrative. They both scored 22 in the league but Salah scored 27 in all comps to Manes 26 and Salah had 12 assists, 10 in the league and Mane got 5, 2 in the league. Mane matched Salahs goals but nothing else when it came to attacking. And people were saying Firmino was better around that time too.
He’s entitled to ask for whatever he wants in a contract negotiation, same as any player, but that doesn’t mean he should just automatically be given it.
No reason for him or his agent to be discussing it with anyone other than the club anyway. If asked a dirext question about it, just say negotiations are ongoing and hopefully a resolution can be reached.
Bar this season there has been little to separate the “three”, Mo is streets ahead this time around.
They were the perfect three for so so long, I think goals/assists just didn’t matter as they were unplayable as a collective.
Ironically I was looking at a graph showing Mane’s overall play and bar finishing chances his underlying stats haven’t changed in 3 years, it’s just in 19/20 he was more clinical.
Underlying stats can be misunderstood and misinterpreted quite easily. The truth is Salah (before this season even) had given Mane more assists for goals than Mane had assisted full stop.
