And I don’t dispute that players salaries would form the biggest chunk of expenditure but 66% and that is only our club…imagine Bournemouth, just the salary exceed the revenue…how does that make any sense as a business?
A lot of the clubs at the top declared 13 months of costs against 12 months, no idea why but this will inflate it a bit.
It’s creative accounting, Chelsea/City moved cash around to make a huge loss 1 year and a huge profit the other. Don’t understand it myself.
Well as it still leaves about 168 million yeah! Football can’t be compared to other companies (Amazon are a famously low paying employer by the way so awful example). The business is 90% on the pitch with everything else centred around displaying what’s on the pitch and achieving the best possible result on the pitch which brings in the vast majority of revenue. So ultimately its the players. LFC doesn’t bring in the revenues without the players on the pitch. Its not like other companies who may be creating a product or distributing goods.
Around 60-65% is probably about right, considering the other costs which fall on football clubs. Not least of which would be transfer fees.
There does appear to be a significant cross over in the Venn Diagram of lads who think we should just pay Mo whatever he wants and lads who think that we should be spending loads more on players.
This has been my point continually, wages + transfer fees need to be considered together, not as separate entities. Not forgetting things like signing on fees, agent fees etc.

You can clearly see the bias - Deschamps/Lloris choosing 3 french players and Benzema as no.1 fuck me.
I don’t get why Ronaldo is in the team of the year hardly mentioned…
I always liked Mahrez!
it’s also pretty obvious that a lot pick Jorginho or Kante to avoid making tough choices and keep their mates there at the top. Albeit they are both fantastic system players and deserving to be in a true team of the year - the best - nah.
Wonder if Lindelof was told to vote for Ronners. Santos probably off the christmas card list too.
I get Jorginho he won the Euros and was excellent there and also the Champions League, but Ronaldo being up there is just ridiculous he’s bang average these days.
Who gives a f*ck about those XI’s anyway these days.
Mo’s best buddy is outraged!
And rightly so!
Kostas Tsimikas does not like this comment.
Mo just picks whoever is geographically closest to Egypt.
Haaland for 64 million and 500k wages per week after 5 years equals 194 million. Orn38.8 million per year for a player who is nearly 10 years younger than Mo.
Or we can get a striker for 100 million (what it would take to replace Mo, on 35+ goals a season) and a player who costs that much would demmand a pretty hefty fee also. That fee leaves 360k per week in wages.
If Mo does leave we’ll probably target somebody around the 50m mark and HOPE he can score 30 plus in the league with wages probably around the 150mark. Problem is when we got Mo we were playing catch up. Now we are out in front so to speak so should start acting like it.
Or of course we can get Mbappe on a free and pay him 500k per week which over 5 years is “only“ £130m
I honestly don’t think we should rule ourselves out of 2 players who would could easily sell on if we needed to and make massive profit on
To put this into perspective. We are losing at least 3 players on free transfers this summer, at least 2 of whom need replacing. Our transfer budget is usually about £30-40m a year plus sales (depending on what other outgoings such as wage increases happen). Our wage bill is currently around £300m a year. £500k probably doesn’t include the sign on fees for Haaland and his camp that have been mooted. So Haaland alone would probably account for around 10% of our wage bill.
Mbappe is probably on his way to Real Madrid. City, Real Madrid and PSG are likely to be in for Haaland (as might Utd) and all will be able to outbid us.
Worth noting, Haaland’s sponsorship with Nike has apparently expired this month and he is likely to be signing a deal with Adidas (just in case anyone thinks Nike is going to sweeten the pot somehow.)
I am not saying it will happen I am just saying that for me they are the only 2 players on the planet who can come in as a like for like replacement for Mo.
Eg - guarantee 30 goals a year.
We may chose to go a different route and replace him with 2-3 players but I don’t know if that will be a good move but we’ll see.
I still hope he signs but…. We’ve been here before with other players haven’t we and the fact of the matter is we’ve let our jewel in the crown get into the last 18 months of his contract which feels like somebody has taken their eye off the ball with it
They may get 30+ but they won’t guarantee it happening. Neither of them have played in the premier league before and we’ve seen plenty of strikers fail to come close to that (particularly at Chelsea ).
They also as far as I am aware don’t play off of the right, so the team will require some shuffling to accommodate them.
I hope this means contracts done or is it just a laughable offer?
That Ramy Abbas gives me creeps
