Mohamed SALAH: 2021/22

Why? Mo contract he dragged on 12 months plus. Klopp get his signed in a morning.

Mo is already being offered the most money at the club… the club who has proved over past 3 years we are one of the best in the world.

If it’s not about money tell me what it’s about?

Length of contract, promises that the club will keep investing to keep the squad competitive, Klopp staying? Any number of things?

Well deserved :+1:

I don’t get why they hand it out before the season has finished, but I think he’s the right choice.

Not that I’m not a bit irked about Salah contract talks dragging on and on and on, but the two situations are different. Klopp has another 10 years in his managerial life while Salah has 2-3 years in his playing career.

Well done Mo, now go get the Quadruple.

I don’t even think its fair to compare the contract situation of a manager and a player. Klopp had been pretty clear for a while that he wanted to leave in a certain year (2024). I don’t think players have the luxury of making it public that they want to leave a club at a certain date in the future like that if they want to avoid the ire of the fans. Maybe if they were a massive club legend, say, like a KD they could?

Salah may have personal reasons for wanting to leave the club. Maybe he wants to stay and has been waiting for certain reassurances (like Klopp staying longer) and the work can now go into sorting out his contract (it probably is going to take more than 24 hours)? Neither you nor I are going to know what is going on behind the scenes.

Mo is a massive club legend by the way.

After Klopp and his staff committing , and the reasons being given for them doing so , then if Mo Salah really believes that his career is going to be more rewarding (non-financially) anywhere else in the world , he’s seriously kidding himself.

If he doesn’t sign now , then it really was all so much smoke and mirrors.

Well the reasons for Salah leaving are getting less and less.

No signs the club will stop investing (on transfers and infrastructure) the manager is here for another 4 years (minimum) and we have it right on the pitch and have had for the past 4/5 years.

The only thing it can be is a) location (maybe he fancies Spain) and b) money

Because you do not have a Scooby what is happening at the club.

Do you honestly think Klopp sorted out a contract in a morning? This will have been worked on for months.

I was thinking about this last night, and I think there is a very good chance that contracts of Mo and Sadio have been held up by managerial questions.

He’s incapable of more than an emotional reaction. Just look at his post history.

Thats uncalled for.

I disagree, it’s highly relevant to the post and its immediate discussion.

I think thats unlikely - unless the questions are from the club’s side rather than the player’s?

He is, and on that note I think we need a “immortals” category, of which he is currently not a member.

I’ll add Kenny as first entry (only 1 per poster allowed).

Mo you got a bit of work todo.

Whatever its about he doesn’t deserve to be called like a cunt. One of our best ever players, maybe he is entitled to some respect.

We’ll find out I guess

I didn’t call him that… I said he has been made to look like that. There is a small difference.

Nobody loves Mo more than me, but…. Let’s see what he does.

As
I’ve said on here I’m now at the point where I’m going to be more surprised if he does sign….

We’ve been here too many times in the past guys

I can’t really think of a situation in the past quite like the one we have with Mo?

We’ve certainly had players not sign contracts, leave for free, or agitate for moves.

Whatever happens, we’ve got Mo right now in his peak years. If he extends, happy days. If he leaves this year, we will get a hefty transfer fee, and the club moves on, with Klopp confirmed for 4 years giving me comfort. If he leaves in Summer 2023 for free, Mo will not be downing tools and chilling - he’s a born winner and a machine, so we could be looking at another 30+ goal season and silverware. Leaves a legend, hopefully with 3 PL medals round his neck, and likely moves abroad.

I’m still more leaning to him signing. But that’s just my gut feeling, which is no more or less valid than anyone else’s gut feeling
