Mohamed SALAH: 2022/23

Sounds like a plan, great to have a keen minded accountant onboard :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Data suggesting that his his XG is currently higher than actual goals - finishing is off somewhat - which is quite evident to see when he does get chances. HIs expected assists are also lower than theyā€™ve ever been at the club, whilst heā€™s getting less touches in the box and playing wider.

In my opinion, itā€™s all a symptom of the the team being in a funk, but I donā€™t think Mo is a problem.

He has missed several chances you expect would have been taken in the past.

One against Leicester stands out and another couple against Brighton that were just the wrong decision.

In a fucking heartbeat.

Salah has played in 34 of the 35 games we have played this season. His 2873 mins converts into 85 mins per game. This aspect of his game is rarely noticed or acknowledged.

Disagree.

There has been plenty of discussion about Salah playing despite not being in the best form for much of the season, buying left sided forwards while consistently overlooking ā€˜properā€™ cover for him.

Him playing too much is noticed and acknowledged and frankly itā€™s a problem when he is ineffective in games.

Last few games heā€™s started brilliantly then seems to burn out and is anonymous in 2nd half

His availability is out of this world. Heā€™s mentally and physically a monster. Iā€™d even say those are his biggest attributes, more than anything technically top tier (of course his movement off the ball and goalscoring from different angles).

But he also always plays when heā€™s in weeks and weeks of bad form, last example of that was spring of last season. There were a few periods when I wanted him to feel little punishment of being on the bench for at least a game or two.

heā€™s Gini Mk2 in durability for sure. However Iā€™d like to see him rested in the odd game and be fresh when we REALLY need him

For once, Abbas saying stuff we like to hear.

Is he? Maybe itā€™s come a little too late because now the tide is turning with the fans shifting more towards wanting him out the door.

which fans?

The fans that 6 months ago were creaming their pants heā€™d finally agreed a new deal, now saying things such as ā€œSalah isnā€™t untouchableā€, ā€œon the decline time to sell etcā€ ā€œIf we get a good offer Iā€™d move him onā€, ā€œIf PSG come in with 60m, 70m 80m PSG PSG PSGā€

You just have to look around and youā€™ll see and theyā€™re growing in numbers with every passing week as letā€™s face it he continues his under par performances.

Its a fair view to be fair. I see it on twitter. Not much on here.

But the second Abbas says Salahs unhappy, his fee falls. So regardless, its still a good thing.

Still love Mo to dead, hope he stays and finish his career with us, sell someone else.

Believe it or not, there are loyal supporters on here, and everwhere.

I really doubt there are many who called for Salah to be given a new contract and now want him out. Anyone with a modicum of sense that is.
Most of us recognise his quality and note the drop in his form is consistent with that of the team.

Some of those who wanted him sold in the summer are the ones creaming themselves now. It suits them better to be ā€œrightā€ rather than recognise his value to the team.

So, big yourself up.
Keep sniping at the best players.
Convince yourself that you are edgy and a discerning supporter.
Play with your toy because you are such a fucking visionary.

As I have said previously I wanted Mo to say but not at $350k per week for a 29 year old

Could not care less what players make, if we can pay it, pay them.

Btw, nobody knows what players make, except the direct involved.

Why?
He is among the very best players in the world, despite the current dip in form.

On one hand we bemoan lack of investment in new players, whilst on the other hand we bemoan the owners paying top wages to established stars. (Not you @Sportbilly1966 but in general).

If we signed Mbappe for Ā£200 million and payed him Ā£400k a week there would be rejoicing.
And he might not score half what Salah has.

We broke the bank to keep an ageing player, who had a poor end to last season.

If he had been in his prime I would consider it a possiblity, but why should he be paid far in excess to other players?

Look at him this year he has lost a yard of pace and isnā€™t converting as he has done in the past. He used to brilliant at cutting and bending the ball into the far corner but seems to have lost the power in his shots.

Age catches up with everyone.

He is up there with our best ever players but $350k to me was too much.

Love him and the way he conducts himself, especially with how biased refs are against him but I wasnā€™t for breaking the bank to keep him
