Mohamed SALAH: 2024/25

I’m not overly bothered by the wages. To my mind it has long been obscene. Salah is clearly at the top of the earnings at Liverpool, and his record and tenure is such that he justifies that.

The actual number is then on Hughes, and the others, to manage within the overall budget.

Whatever analysis we can give to that is superficial, in relation to what they know about the budget and the other plans we have.

Not your best moment to be honest

Well I imagine that isn’t simply minutes on the pitch and they include winning the biggest trophies (and perhaps scoring/assisting in large numbers).

Can confirm, unless you live in an Aramco compound, which isn’t really even Saudi Arabia.

Everyone spent months moaning about Hughes and FSG being tight arses for not getting these contracts done. Now they’re done we complain about the wage?

I don’t think it will affect future negotiations. Salah is close to the top 3 players ever to play for the club. Could be the second top scorer. I think others can recognise his last wage here will be a different level.

He’s also a good human being and great with the young players as an added bonus

I was never in the “Give him whatever he wants” camp and if anything, I’m certain that everyone that clamoured for FSG to meet his wage demands, will be on Salah’s back the minute he visibly starts dropping off. Fact of the matter is that committing so much money for an older player, legend or not, is a risk that I am not sure it’s worth taking anymore.

As for future negotiations, they will be affected, there is no getting around it. It will push up every wage demand.

You seem to be getting terribly irrate over a figure which we aren’t sure is actually true or how its proportioned.

I am happy that we kept him. How happy I should be, considering the contract, I don’t know.
I just hope that his current amazing form will continue for the next two years.

I’d say we have until Sunday to celebrate this news, then from next week we can start the complaints that he only has 2 years left on his contract and that it’s dangerous grounds to let a player wind his contract down that far as his sell on value starts to take a hit.

Fixed for typical TAN meltdown

Try worried instead. Even his base salary is the largest awarded in LFC’s history.

It’s fine to rejoice, just don’t expect everyone to share your enthusiasm.

What are you worried about exactly. Who says his base salary is that.

You seem fully desperate to paint it in some negative light I just can’t see why.

You are upset at things you don’t know are true.

Anyway, was fully aware that Salah at this stage of career, still performing at a high level, certainly wasn’t going to cost less than he did. Regardless of the length of contract. So for me it doesn’t come as a shock, an increase was expected.

We saw it at Barca with their previous golden generation (they got old together which was a problem, here our mix and average squad age is still good). They don’t become cheaper, let alone players who actually maintain a high level like Mo does.

How that “cake” is spread out, yeah, that is impossible for us to know. He certainly has individual bonuses, some of which will be easy for him to accomplish and team bonuses. Ceiling of that surely means winning the league or CL.

How on earth do we even know that?

It’s a lot of getting worked up over plain speculation.

Nah, we’ll be complaining that it’s another match where he failed to score, Liverpool lost and Arsenal are only eight points behind!

‘Everyone’? He’s guaranteed to drop off at some point and proper fans will still appreciate what he has done.

We’re privileged to be watching one of the club’s greatest ever players, once or twice a week. I for one am going to enjoy it while it lasts!
