He dramatically calls it a re-build for some reason… buying a couple of players, to me anyway, is not exactly a re-build, but more a fine tuning
It feeds the narrative this is Klopps team and Slot has done nothing special and hard work starts next season.
If you don’t see it or agree with it, I’m fine with that. My personal opinion is that it’s a little tone deaf.
Club extends itself to star player, offers a new deal, highest in our history. He is worth it, in the climate, no problem there. That’s up to the budget holders.
And how Mo spends his money is his decision, of course it is, so I’m just a fan passing comment on a football forum.
He turns up for the contract signing wearing a $950k watch. It just seems a bit too bling, like something Cristiano Ronaldo would do. I would prefer to see Liverpool footballers be a little more understated. I don’t expect the players to wear a Casio watch and drive a Ford, but there are degrees. I haven’t mapped it out or anything like that, but to my mind this is a little tone deaf as it is an ostentatious display of wealth at the moment he signs his deal. Again, not a hill I’ll die on, just looks a bit ugh to me. Blingy. Consumeristic.
Not a protracted argument I’ll get into. This post about sums up my view.
I’m not commenting on the color of the watch. I’d rather the players, especially the senior ones, were a little more discreet in flashing their wealth.
It’s quite possible it is part of a sponsorship deal, or a gift.
For what its worth I’ve never heard of the brand before, and wouldnt have noticed if people had not posted about it.
Wages in top flight football are on another planet.
Even 1 million Bolivianos per week is beyond my comprehension.
I think nobody gives a shit except people who already know of that watch’s existence.
A generational talent, a talisman, one of our best ever players signs a two year deal.
“Yeah, but look at his watch though”…
Its a rather strange point to get so upset on.
This thread has gone strangely dark.
We should all be happy we get another couple of years to enjoy one of our greatest ever players, rather than speculating on unpleasant scenarios and moaning about watches.
Btw, I never got the whole watch thing. One of the great advantages of mobile phones is the end of the necessity to carry a bloody clock around on your wrist.
Well I certainly didn’t before I read this thread. It looks like a piece of tat. I’m sure it will go fine with Jane Birkin’s handbag.
A bit late to the party, but absolutely delighted to hear that Mo is staying with us! As I wrote earlier in this thread, it’s a privilege to be able to watch him play for us on a weekly basis. He’s a professional player through and through, one at Milner levels, but he combines this with a joy and inventiveness on the pitch I’ve seldom come across, coupled with a unique ruthlessness in front of goal as @Limiescouse pointed out.
Aside his contribution on the pitch, as a role model for younger players in the squad, he’ll be priceless for us these next two years. Looking forward to everything he’ll still offer us.
And now… on to you, VVD. ![]()
Yes, yes. But what about that watch?
Salah will give his best for the team until father time calls time on his top flight career! it gives the transfer team a bit of time and space to plan the transition.
At least Mo will be able to see that time clearly!
Or is simply the fact the last 4 weeks you have been trying to convince everyone he was leaving.
Ugly for sure. Blue.
