Mohamed SALAH: 2025/26

Yeah, I think Gerrard was better than Salah.

Salah’s a great player, but he’s been playing with world class teammates since day one. He’s not knocking around with Sinema Pongolle or Neil Mellor.

Same for Suarez having to play in front lines with Stuart Downing and Jose Enrique.

I dont think Salah would have fared particularly well in those teams, whereas Gerrard and Suarez would have been unbelievable under Klopp.

Gerrard’s performance level when paired with Torres is as good as anything I’ve seen at the club. His two almost single handed cup final wins are as good as any individual performances as we’ve seen. I don’t think Salah is capable of that level.

It’s surely not a blasphemy to say that Henry was a better player than Salah.

Ffs. The state of some deluded people over here.

Who the fuck are you calling deluded? Liverpool supporters who make an argument for a Liverpool player?

Others at least argue with respect, make their claims or points in a respectful manner.

You are a tedious fuckwit, and I will take whatever hit comes for calling you that.

On which grounds? On ‘the numbers’, several strikers have scored more starting with Shearer while Wayne Rooney has both scored and assisted more. In terms of impact, Ronaldo, Suarez, Henry and Bergkamp all have claims while in terms of contributing to winning stuff there are many players with impressive claims.

Mo has an amazing record but I don’t think, as a poster above claims, that he has a strong claim to be the best player of the PL, let alone that it is unequivocal.

On the grounds that he is getting elite striker numbers, comparable with the names you mention, and he’s doing so off the wing, and generally with two opposition players dangling off his neck.

Yeah not getting the fouls he deserves is (was) actually one of the reasons I wanted to see him sold (even 2 years ago - clearly a season too early!). I’m not sure the starting position thing is fair as for most of that time we didn’t operate with a traditional CF so he wasn’t a winger in the true sense (a bit like C. Ronaldo wasn’t ).

It is not only not fair, it is a complete misrepresentation of the situation and the way football evolved. From day 1 here his primary role has been scoring goals and most of his games have come playing with a striker who was more interested in creating them for him than he was in scoring them for himself.

Some adult players need to grow the fuck up or hire social media management that are not infantile. It wasn’t that long ago that his social media, correctly, called out a Liverpool fan site for posting a “disrespectful” post about players leaving and new players coming in.

Nonetheless, his performances and his stats over the seasons have been consistently above the norm. We probably agree that but for cheating by City he would have 3 PL medals. But for an assault by Ramos he would potentially have 2 CL medals.

I understand the arguments for other players, I understand the diffent positions being assessed differently, but if choosing the greatest PL player, then Salah for me is it.
Gerrard is the best midfielder and VVD is in the conversation for best defender.

When we talk about the best player ever, Pele, Maradonna or maybe Messi, then position isn’t a factor. Beckenbauer, Maldini, Moore, Cruyff, Zidane can all be mentioned, but we don’t dwell on position.

In this discussion, Salahis thebest PL player for me.
King Kenny overall, but Mo in this era.

And, all argument is valid, but sometimes we feel we have to look outside Liverpool for fear of being accused of red tinted glasses. We can still be objective.

I totally agree with you, i came on this site to engage with fellow LFC fans.
No longer living in England & being able to attend the games i really missed the discussions i would have with friends & other fans i would chat to.
Unfortunately it seems this site doesn’t wish to grow & is happy with the clique that’s been built up over a period of time.
I’ll post this then leave the site & look for other options.
It’ll at least give the cliquey members of this site something to laugh at between their discussions & in house jokes.

For any new members, I think the pub analogy is quite useful.

If you move to a new area and want to make the local your new boozer, you’d get to know the place a bit. Find the lie of the land. You’d get to know the locals.

You wouldn’t rock up on your first visit, change all the records on the jukebox (showing my age there), move all the furniture round and bollock the locals for being cliquey.

Good luck finding a new forum where you won’t be subject to any moderation.

Dildo got way too much grief from publishing something in the wrong place, be polite and point them in the right direction, we should encourage new posters

He got zero grief for posting it in the wrong place. He was only grief after the responses you said he should have been met with were responded to by him calling everyone pricks :joy:

You shouldn’t get grief for telling the truth :face_with_tongue:

I thought there must be a reason I wasn’t making friends at my local. I will move the sofa back inside next time…

Wow no wonder you left England

While I agree there are cliques and there are people on here that I cannot be bothered with but for someone “new” like you that joined less than a month and already complaining of cliques like you have been here for longer is disingenuous. Signing up with a new nick just to complain about things in an internet forum is the most boring trick in the book.
