Mohamed SALAH: 2025/26

I dont think Ive ever seen a player ability tail off so fast as Mo’s did. It must be hard for him. In hindsight it was probably more gradual, but last season, he had Trent placing it on a plate for him. But this was inevitable now that he could not guarantee a start.

This has been some season, mostly it has brought decay. Nothing good to add, expect love for the man and wish him and his family all the very best. What a lovely human being.

It’s why I don’t think he’s as bad as we think he is but by association nethier is the side.

Someone on reddit type: Plot twist - Salah will be the player-coach for the remaining 2025/26 season.

Just catching up on the tributes. We need to remember him and cherish the time we got with him. He was one of the best ever. And we got to watch him every week.

It’s perfect this way. I have no desire to see him struggle through another season, battling against Father Time. He goes a hero, in control of his departure and with a massive send off.

Good luck. You were the best.

I’m wondering if he has a club lined up in the middle-east and it was all cut and dried before Trump kicked off.
Beneficial for us to let him go on a free if he forfeited his contract and maybe Mo negotiated more than that as a signing on fee?

We wont see his like again. In a bracket with Kenny and Stevie, people will argue for years as to who was the best.

I think last season I more or less perfected the art of pointing out how much his level of play had deteriorated, how much less he was moving, how his control was nowhere what it had been, just in time to look silly when he scored anyway.

That in itself is a mark of how great a player he was, even in a very clear decline he was instrumental in bringing the club one last league title.

Think Mo only has 2 EFL cups?

I hold him as having one of the best first touches Ive ever seen. Can still do it, less often, but can stop a Virgil raking pass, on a 6-pence. He did it the other week, I was watching us alongwith a Villa fan, and it was he who remarked WOW, see that touch then. I missed it arguing with someone online

Lol, this was me last yera too, I regularly commented on Mo being poor in the ‘in match threads’ then he would score or assist and at times both.

He has been poor this year without question, but when you look at a lot of the highlight videos of our misses passes from Mo creating the spurned chance are still in a disproportionate amount of them. Maybe there is a universe where the rest of the team isnt so disappointing, Mo is sitting on 12-15 assists, we are 10 points better off and we’re doing the same uncomfortable dance with him seeing that he is not the same player, seeing that a lot of moves die when the ball reaches him, but too hesitant to say it because he is still producing at a rate most other players dont.

I guess I wonder if in some ways the overall struggles of the side has made it easer to just rip the band aid off with him

I think this is a good point. At this stage of his career, the special moments Mo can still bring are like a cherry on the top of the cake. But it’s out of sync with our needs next season, as we need to bake a new cake, under a new manager.

Salah’s last game is against Brentford at Anfield

Henderson, Kelleher, Van Den Berg, Carvalho play for Brentford

We’re getting the family back together for Salah’s farewell. :+1:

Probably one of the best, if not the best, Liverpool and the PL have seen in this era. It is perhaps bittersweet he is leaving in not better circumstances, the struggles and the public fallout. But I will say this. He chose to stay when he could have left like many others did before him. He chose to stay and fight for the club when he could have left years ago for more money. He is a legend and I am glad Liverpool FC and Salah chose each other.

That’ll be great to have Hendo and Kelleher there. He’s probably forgot who the other 2 are

I think that’s more of an issue for the supporters than it was for the club. The club was obviously very hesitant to extend him last year, and probably hoped they could squeeze another productive year out of him before selling him and recouping a fee. But the supporters were pressuring the club to extend him, and some supporters continued to back him back in December after his tantrum even though it was clear at that time that Salah wasn’t the same player anymore and Slot’s decision to drop him was justified.

If anything, his poor performance this year probably cost the club a chance to sell him this summer.
