Moises Caicedo (DM/CM/RB) Brighton and Hove Albion

Brighton can still not sell Caicedo. His value isn’t going to dip that much if they do sell him in the winter window considering the length of the contract.

Seems almost certain. If Chelsea could match the LFC offer, they would end it. They haven’t, and want us to go away so they can dictate terms to Brighton.

All ex players become pariahs to their former clubs fans once they join the media circus…

You should see the stick Gary Neville gets on the Caf

They could, but they won’t. Whatever Chelsea’s offer was would do it if there was no other option.

i reckon Chelsea are only saying they want to sign him,

and holding up his transfer to us

to stop us getting him in time to make his debut against them on Sunday!

They don’t even need us to go away if Caicedo says he’s only interested in going there.

They either take the £100m Chelsea are offering or keep an unhappy player who’ll likely not play for them and then repeat the saga in January or next summer.

They’ve moved on from him, it’s just a case of where he’s going.

If he doesn’t leave Brighton he will end back playing for them till Jan. We have the perfect illustration of this when Phils back was in a terrible way till window closed.

Not sure it matters because money usually trumps all, but Chelsea treatment of Adams and Lavia (assuming they agreed price with no intent to buy) would be new low even in seedy world of football transfers.

Which is why this could string along all the way to end of the transfer window. Brighton is taking about as firm a stance as is feasible under the existing transfer rules.

It absolutely amazes me that players are allowed to discuss contract terms with clubs they are not contracted with - that simple fact is at the root of so many ills in the transfer market.

Brighton’s position with us is not legally binding, it is not exclusive to us, and doesnt compel the player to sign.

All this frustration with Brighton is misplaced. They will do what they need to do to try to exit this situation. If that means keeping lines open with another party to get the deal the player wants then that is what they will have to do.

However, we have to read these “he wants chelsea” comments with a huge pinch of salt. People really over sensationalize situations like this. His relationship with chelsea have been developed over a long period. Our approach was very sudden. There is a big difference between a player telling us he was open to signing for us vs taking mere hours to walk away from a deal he’d been preparing for for months. How many times do you see a player thought to be signing for one club only to sign for someone else at the last minute and then get criticized for being a mercenary? You take us out of the equation, and allowing the player a moment of reflection to make sure they are making the right decision would be considered a very reasonable thing to do. Again, the fact Klopp hasnt already told him to do one suggests all these inflammatory comments about him only wanting chelsea are just not believable.

I get what you are saying, but how do we know they are not legally binding ?

Klopp stated that there are certain things he cannot talk about , even looked to his right looking at whoever was there for clarification.

The fact is that we have apparently met all conditions with Brighton, and as far as I know we have a gentleman’s agreement of sorts.

It looks as though as far as Brighton manager (and the ownership by the looks) he is gone as far as they are concerned …now it’s all on the technicalities of what was agreed etc and who is actually operating within the legal realms of reality.

Good post from yourself by the way, just one more question .

All the amount of bs being spouted by itk’s …has there actually been any comment from Brighton themselves to confirm if they are awaiting another bid from Chelsea ?

Because I don’t think I have seen one verified statement from the club saying anything .

Relevantly though, they have made one that is MUCH improved over the prior one they had rejected and almost certainly good enough to have been accepted had we not got involved. There is the prospect that if Caicedo refuses to sign for us that Brighton may have to go back and accept that. I think the idea that Chelsea have to go back and beat our offer is treating this “auction” as far more of an official proceeding than it was.

Because there was no verbal or written contract between Brighton and every other football club on the planet saying that bids must be in by Thursday. The only deadline that affects us is the closing of the English transfer window.

Brighton then say unless chelsea match the offer, and player refuses to join LFC then player returns to brighton.

Well, I think we’ll have a resolution pretty soon. The contents of the Tweet below may or may not be true, obvs.

Sorry for this sixpence,

So they give us an auction and a deadline.

We meet them all and they accept .

Our negotiating team agree to terms and they accept.
£111 million bid …and you say that in no way shape or form is anything legally binding ?

Not having a go at you as you have eloquently given answers.

But I am struggling to understand that our negotiating team have entered into negotiations, apparently having a deal agreed with Brighton, but there is nothing legally binding to protect the agreement we apparently have in place .

Seems rather strange to me , or is it too simple thinking from my perspective?

what happened to the tweet chelsea have submitted 115 mil offer? was the tweet fake?

They have, and it is not Brighton holding this up. But until the player signs there there is the possibility of a backdoor deal if Chelsea can stump up the money to put together a suitable deal, which is seemingly what Chelsea are trying to make happen.

Brightion may talk a big game right now about being willing to keep him, but I dont think anyone actually believes them on that
