A friend of mine worked as a PA for Keith Gillespie’ agent in the 1990s. From what she said, I got the impression that he was his only significant client. I also got the impression that this agent wasn’t the most reliable person. She did say that Alex Ferguson was always very personable on the phone, though.

I highly doubt we’d have bid that much if we weren’t assured we’d get personal terms. From the sounds of it, the agent derailed the whole thing.

I’m not that impressed with their club and owners either. For varying reasons.
However, more importantly, looking at our club, mistakes clearly have been made. Losing out to Chelsea, on the basis we do, should wake a few people up. Need to do better.

I don’t see any issue with our club here.We bid a record fee but the player clearly wants chelsea.No point in going higher just to further line his and his agents pockets.

Its highly unlikely we we are not also working on other deals. Us leaving the bid on the table doesn’t mean we are obliged to follow through with it.
