Most disliked pundit

What’s funny is nobody whatsoever takes the slightest bit of interest in his moronic rambling.

I absolutely despise the cunt.

He is symptomatic of the contemporary pundit. They are so fucking annoying.

Moronic as in Richards, Merson. And unfortunately Carragher. Sturridge heading in that direction.

Worldly wise though they really are not, as in Shearer, Murphy. Jamie Redknapp seeking membership of this club. Rio is short of the required smugness to join.

Ironic hardman turned panto villlian as in Keane and Keown. Graham Roberts is too thick to fit in there.

In Ireland we were blessed to have John Giles as an analyst. He knew football, he made reasoned comments. He made mistakes, accepted them and moved on.
In 2005 he was sure Liverpool wouldn’t win the CL. When we did he sang a song live on radio to show his remorse, it was a bit of fun but he fully accepted his error of judgement.

Souness was ok, when allowed. Bellamy is underused, because he might be too honest.

Alan Hansen, John Giles…they were proper pundits.

I’m not sure what happened to Pat Nevin. He always seemed pretty intelligent when he was on. Maybe that’s not what they want in a pundit?

Agree. I know we aren’t supposed to like him because of his Everton connection, but he is honest and intelligent and talks like a fan.
Cracking player too.

Fair point, well made!

Still though, he falls into the more moronic category

Never heard of him, but pretty stupid thing to say during a live braodcast

Was it really worthy of the sack?

It’s a tongue-in-cheek joke; it’s not as if he’s said they’re all mingers or blokes in disguise.

The world these days is bonkers.

…bit more respect for other people achievements is minimum standard for presenters…

its hardly rocket science to NOT make lazy, boring comments, an apology probably would suffice, but i suppose its a highly sort after role so theres no reason to entertain him further…

that said, and ive never seen or heard of the guy, but im sure id rather hear him make bungling outdated comments than watching Micah Richards and co and their ‘mad bantz’ act…now they ARE offensive

Can’t we just not have either?

Patronising bollocks from a fat bald bloke (see we can all throw this bollocks about).

I expect he will be in the Daily Mail moaning cancel culture next week.

I haven’t heard the tone in which he delivered the comment but sacking seems a bit over the top. The problem is too many people want to be offended or take offence for someone else rather than see it as a jovial comment.
If a female commentator cracked a joke about men multi tasking I would laugh if it was funny, but we all know women can’t tell jokes….I know, I’m sorry.
I definitely wouldn’t take offence, it’s observational humour, Peter Kay and Michael McIntyre, two of the UK’s biggest comedians are very successful with it. Is it sexist….I don’t think so. But hey, that’s only my opinion.

A professional commentator shouldn’t making sexist comments that presents womens’ sport as lesser than mens’ and demean the accomplishments of the women he is paid to cover

Would it be okay for a women to do the opposite or belittle a fella as per what Lynch said, because no fella would complain

The problem isn’t the jovial comment on its own. It’s the 1,000th time that the same tired old trope has been wheeled out.

As a comedian friend of mine pointed out: poking fun at stereotypes is funny, stereotypes themselves aren’t funny, they are just stale old jokes.
