Problem is who do they have to review their performance???
A panel of ex players, managers and coaches with a consistent, focussed training in the laws of the game. The training for the panel would be similar to grassroot referee training, and have a clear objective view of how the laws apply in particular instances.
For example:
Havertz penalty vs Cody non penalty. Discuss. If one is, the other is.
The most important people in the game are players, managers and those preparing teams. Not referees. They are beyond reproach at the moment and it needs to change.
After 3 or 4 seasons of hard hitting analysis by this panel, refs would behave or fuck off. The use of the panel could be scaled down to random checks at that stage.
Great Idea, just wish someone would initiate it, canāt see the PGMOL doing so.
No. They wonāt.
Turkeys voting for Christmas etc
This is something that I think AI would be able to sort out without personal bias. Like automated offside and goal line technology, remove the human error and you remove the arguments.
Itās not something the broadcasters will like since they spend 90% of their time trying to create controversy.
So take it out of their hands.
The 20 clubs are the P/L, so maybe it needs to be the clubs that push for this to be something that must be implimented.
I think there was an article I read which said that PGMOL are already doing regular reviews of games. Not sure how successful that isā¦
And therein lies the problem, only accountable to themselves
Getting back on to the pundits, I noticed that Mark Lawrenson is whining on that he was given the push by the BBC because they are āWokeā.
Now, aside the fact that anyone using āWokeā as a pejorative is clearly an inarticulate arsehole, I think the BBC let him go because he constantly sounded like he was being forced to watch football against his will as some sort of Guantanamo Bay torture regime.
In terms of punditry he offered little and I only think they employed him because he worked well with Alan Hansen in the 1980s. Having said that, Iām sick of Alan Shearerās complete lack of insight about anything. In fact he, along with Micah Richards, is the main reason I gave up on Gary Linekerās podcast.
Actually, if I could watch the match with only the crowd and George Sephton to keep me company, Iād be far happier.
Really!
You are unsure of how successful it is?
Heres the answerā¦
Its not.
Agreed, he evidently didnāt plan his retirement as well as Alan Hansen.
He offers nothing like his replacements mind.
An independent review panel already exists
Looks like Roy has become a prawn sandwich supporter; he even needs Micah fucking Richards to defend him.
He was a real hard man with an entourage around himā¦
Micah being the good cop bouncer out front.
They look like fucking idiots.
It looks like āhandbagsā to me. Should never have ended up in court.
This is just brain dead

There is a game to be won. Treating the result as merely point scoring for some over hyped individual award is so moronic that of course it is Rioās go to.
He kept chipping in during the game and it was some of the most boring and frankly dumb punditry Iāve ever heard.
Had zero value
