Beckham especially had the benefit of his wifeās publicity agent who rebuilt his sullied reputation after France '98.
I just remember him standing around on the touchline most of the time. Waste of space.

but he also had a brilliant publicist
it kind of sums it up when you have a non football person ask if Beckham was the best player in the worldā¦and i had that question a few timesā¦
so yeah, overatedā¦but thats not to dismiss him as a supremely talented footballerā¦
He was brilliant.
Genuine quality with the ball and an outrageous workrate off it.
He wasnāt as good as his fame suggests but still a top footballer. He didnāt play for United and Madrid just because heās good looking.
