Naby KEITA: 2020/21

Absolutely. No doubting his quality. But when he cannot stay fit how can you build a side with him in it or play a strategy to counter a low block team.

What type of second hand car salesmen do you think we are?

Only silver lining for me is the hope we get all our players back for the second half of the season plus a new CB.

He’s a complete waste of space. I’d give him away in January. Will be remembered for a sensational dummy on his debut, and fuck all else.

A bit harsh I feel, has had some good performances when called upon.

Yes like the last game we played.

Your use of the term ā€˜when called upon’ is telling, like he’s a fringe player covering for injuries rather than a Ā£50 million plus player we signed a year in advance.
That dummy at Palace is literally his ā€˜wow’ moment.

Even Klopp is frustrated with Keita.

I used that term to mean when he has been available, he has been on the fringes because he has been injured.

One thing I have noted though, he isn’t afforded the same patience with his performances, he is expected to be prime Messi every game.

Nobody is expecting him to be Messi levels, we would realistically love him to have Messi’s injury record.

Maybe if our players were as protected by the refs as Barcelona’s are, he would.

Some of the post match comments say otherwise.

I can’t think of many of his injuries that were game related. They always seem to be training most of the time.

I think the club should hire a consultant to follow him around to make sure he isn’t wanking too hard, or straining too much when he’s taking a dump.

I can’t remember one contact injury he’ s sustained.

It is really becoming a problem now. I feel for the lad, because he is clearly a talented player who could be brilliant if he could stay fit.

I can’t even be bothered to discuss Keita anymore. Sick of repeating myself.

He was crocked by Barcelona in the first leg of the SF in 2019 wasn’t he? Seem to remember him being taken out around the knee and he injured his back, maybe?

Yeah, that’s probably the exception to the rule. However, it doesn’t really alter the fact he’s been a massive disappointment for 2 1/2 years with no end in sight to his continuous ailments.

Time to cut our losses on Naby I think. Klopp was visibly frustrated when Keita was mentioned today too so I have a feeling he thinks the same. There is no doubting he has quality but his fitness record is dreadful. Will we find a buyer though and at what price?
