Naby KEITA: 2020/21

Would be happy to get half of what we paid just to get him off the wage bill. Doubt we will though.

It feels that way. Klopp has given him ample time and accommodated him for long in the hope that he’ll be able play in a string of games. But then some niggle comes up. Rinse and repeat.

With Ox now ready to start playing more, maybe it’ll give Keita a kick up the metaphorical backside to realize that his career is starting to resemble a zombie walking, and needs to do something about it.

That’s tempting fate!

I don’t see how that helps. It isn’t his fault he can’t get fit. He isn’t continually looking for a cheeky sickie.

I’m sure the lad want to play football.

… until he gets injured again. The two of them should be moved on , but it won’t happen. Klopp is loyal to a fault.

I’m confused on your point about Jurgen’s loyalty. When should he have sold Ox and Keita? Or do you mean sell them now during a pandemic when demand and supply curves might be parallel lines?

He won’t move to sell them , that’s my point.

Ox should have never been given a new improved contract when he hadn’t even recovered from his very serious injury , and there was no guarantee that he ever would regain full fitness or be the player he once was. Both of which appear to have happened.

Keita is an enigma , and even Klopp seems exasperated with his fitness issues now , but I still don’t expect him to give up on him. It’s just not his style.

That’s what I meant by being loyal to a fault.

Is there no kind of medical test they can do to see who’s more/least likely to have constant muscle problems or is that a stupid fucking question.

Dunk em in tea I say. If they’d done that with Naby as part of the medical they woulda correctly diagnosed him as a rich tea.

Need more ginger nuts and nobs

It is equivalent to burning a woman to see if she’s a witch. If she dies then you got it wrong.

Got it. Thank you. I thought they had given Ox a year to recover before giving the new contract and probably made a well educated bet on his progress. But maybe I have that wrong.

As for Naby, I have no idea whether Jürgen will sell him or not. I can’t imagine it’s easy to. Maybe you have a clearing price in mind or maybe it’s sell at all costs to buy another piece. Although I’m also not sure it’s easy to predict the replacement that we bring in will stay healthy…

Unless, of course, @Scott.Jones wins the Nobel Prize in medicine.:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Which is why you put them in water to see if they float.

I happen to be a big fan of Naby myself. It’s just so frustrating to see him injured all the time. And like somebody else has already mentioned , he’s not even picking up injuries in matches it’s all happening in training. If the medical team hasn’t been able to prevent the constant re-occurences thus far then you have to wonder if they ever will. It would be a shame to just watch him fade away and the question has to be asked ; is his body is up to the rigours of playing in a Klopp team ? The evidence suggests not.

Remember when Klopp said ‘we won’t sell Sturridge because it will be too expensive to replace him’.

That’s why we won’t sell Naby or Ox.

Oh, and with Sturridge that was before Covid fucked up our finances.

Not necessarily. :sunglasses:

How do they stay on fire if they in water?

If they sneaked him out of the back door tonight it would be months before I realized he was gone, if ever. I wish him all the best but I’d like him out of Anfield asap.

Now Jurgen has brought in his old medical pal, the clock has started ticking with Keita and LFC me thinks…!
If this guy can’t keep him fit from the niggles and muscle spasms, Keita may as well start ordering his Guinness in Anfields Last Chance Saloon.!

Guinness because he is Guinean?
