Thing is, Keita has never realized his talents in the real world. He never had more that 30 league appearances and never had more than 20 starts in a season in all competition. Even when he shows up, he never created and contributed enough in most of his appearances.
Aye, I donāt mind moving on from him myself. Shit happened, it didnāt work out. But the way many times things are mentioned is you would feel heās purposely getting injured and not wanting to play for us.
I meant his injury record!
His national team coach is taking the piss right, itās them he usually comes back injured from.
Weāll never get that much. In current circumstances, Ā£25m are a fortune, only payable by the biggest clubs, and which one of them would be willing to take a crock on their books?
Nah, weāll have to keep him and pray for a miracle recovery in fitness and form for the lad, that is all. After all, miracles happen from time to time.
True the days of a Bournemouth paying Ā£20-25m for a complete gamble are long gone.

There is always Sheffield Utd to turn toā¦ :0)
Or 12 of the Premier League sides last summer, during the height of the Covid losses, who spent that much or more on at least one player? Next seasons financial accounts will likely be almost back to normal, this summer falls into then. If over half the clubs spent more than that on at least one player during the financial year most hit by COVID Iād expect at least the same number if not a lot more to do so this summer.
I have a feeling that Klopp or LFC had a hand in not going to the friendlies. Maybe, they told him to stay away from meaningless NT games, stay/get fit or leave Liverpool.
Itās been pointed out time and time again that players and clubs donāt have this power. It is 100% the decision of the national team. Even if currently declared injured they can demand their medical team have a look at the player and determine for themselves if they are OK to play. Something that has happened more than once with Keita and led to further complications to minor injuries.
Clubs are still left reeling by the financial shock. Many of them are heavily in debt now. The main point: heās a crock, nobody will take such a gamble on him.
Sad to say this but the only thing he can hope to be at the moment is a squad member who can contribute. Even Ox has more offers for him than anyone coming in for Naby. And thats not to say Naby is a bad player, he is good, but if he cant feature in enough games to make a impact whats the point. Lets hope he takes pre season and tries gaining full fitness and try and keep off the injury table as much as possible this coming season.
But whilst clubs were being hit by that financial shock the majority of them spent that much or more on players, some inferior and some just as crocked. So I donāt see how, once recovery starts, clubs gamble less with their finances. Most clubs run at losses every year anyway.
Could we loan him out and bring Grujic in?
At least Grujic might be able to cover for 3 or 4 games more than Keita.
I would immediately ad some height to our midfield.
Grujic is not the answer.
He is more reliable than Keita though, no?
Edit: The thing for me is that I feel the club need to buy time, this doesnāt appear to be the window to take gambles. Going for reliable seems sensible until opportunities brighten.
ā¦so neither Keita or Grujic then?
Fair enough I was just using Grujic as an example, could be Clarkson or any other midfielder on our books but not in the squad (then a youth doesnāt count as he doesnāt take up a squad spot). Enlighten me who ease is there?
In the squad already? See Iām not sure your definition of reliable. For me that means the quality not to let us down and at least acceptable availability. In which case Fabinho, Thiago, Henderson (just on availability) and Jones. Milner arguably but he wonāt be forever as he gets older. Unreliable is Ox, Keita and Grujic. Iād sell all 3 for whatever we can get to go towards buying a real reliable option.
