Naby KEITA: 2020/21

Have to make clear that it’s not someting i like.

I think that in the moment where he gets the chance to eventually represent his country in a big tournament he doesn’t think about his fitness, his club and who pays him for one second. Thats not just Naby from our squad. 100% sure Mo, Sadio, the brazilians and Robbo would be the same - maybe others too.

None of them are in danger of having their fanbase turn on them… wanting them to be sold…!!
They have a track record of ‘pushing the train’ to get us where we are… Naby to date, has been an expensive flop with almost nothing to glean from his LFC tenure…
So in the circumstances… you are not really comparing apples with apples…!

We can turn on him - no problem. I bet he would still prefer that to being called a traitor in his home country.

Speaking of his performances. He had some great games in the last few months but in my book still not better than the best performances Ox had for us.

Keita is a far better midfielder than Chamberlain now.

Chamberlain shouldn’t be ahead of Jones, nevermind Keita.

I’d say he would rather play for Guinea than for us. More pride for him being captain of his country and carrying them in games.

You are missing my point though, Keita clearly has a body made from biscuits… He should be doing every single thing to keep himself fit and available for selection for the club who pay his wages (which he uses to help so many people back in Guinea).

What looks to keep happening is he gets injured (remember he came here injured or got injured very early), he takes a month to get fit, he plays a game or so, looks excellent but clearly not match-fit… He then goes off to international football and plays ridiculous levels of football and returns to breakdown again… Rinse and repeat.

So Mo, Mane, Salah are not the same… 1) They are not made of biscuits and 2) They very rarely come back from International football and get injured.

Keita clearly needs to put his club before country until he has had a good 6 months of un-interupted football, and the time with the world class sports science team we have here.

This is actually long term beneficial for both, his career is wasting away and with the emergence of the likes of Jones and Elliot next season he needs to do everything he can to cement his place now.

Aquillani and Sturridge spring to mind.

And one of my favourite Liverpool players, that was forever injured but still provided moments, Fabio Aurellio.

If wages being paid is becoming an important factor for his commitment to us, then we should stop getting offended when the players would leave the club for greener pastures for whatever personal reasons. We can’t expect the player to be considering this as a job or as a fan, while playing for us, depending how it suits us.

Was looking at Naby’s recent playing time. He was available for all 10 PL matches after project restart, played in 9. Almost finishing 3 (85, 85, 84).

This season started in the front foot for him playing in the first 4 PL matches, but then was pulled at half of Villa 10/4. We didn’t see him again until Atalanta on 11/4, missing 3 PL and 2 CL matches in October. Available on the bench v City and hurt v Leicester.

Not sure what to make of all that except for really bad luck. I’m sure it’s a strain on him mentally to always rehab niggling injuries.

Every employee of every company… surely has a duty to show loyalty and commitment to that company, purely as a measure of appreciation if nothing else…!
Or has the world of Industry and Commerce spun off its axis and I haven’t noticed…
Naby Keita needs to wake the F*** UP to the opportunity he has at LFC…

Thats a bit harsh, he just keeps getting injured. I have never seen him play for us other than wholeheartedly committed.

No. Nor was there any specific concern about his fitness upon coming back. If there was we’d have started the game the way we ended, with Neco at RB and Milly in midfield. He returned to fitness before the break, went away and played 2 games, came back and was fit enough for selection and broke down. It happens, and it is no more Guniea’s fault than it is Klopp’s

@Limiescouse; @Kopstar and I raised the issue of the cold in the UK, on here last night, you may have seen it. Do you have any insight on that from your own understanding and experiences?

Has he ever finished 90mins for us before? I may be wrong but always seems to be subbed after 60mins when starting. So yes 2*90mins after only 60mins of game time after a month out seems overly excessive.

Good to see him back, gives us some badly needed options in midfield.

Is it just me who thought he looked like he was struggling/limping last night?
