Naby KEITA: 2021/22

Faked the injury, he was just about to start fading and playing like crap, after a very good performance.

:joy:

It proves that there are blades of grass that are tougher than Pogba

I’m sure Naby took a knock on the same leg in the first half I wonder if that was the concern, had to say when I saw him go off on a stretcher I thought the worst.

If he had limped off I might have thought ok 2-3 weeks, shocked that there is no damage maybe mentally he had concerns might have been a blessing in a way the way they were tackling.

Hope we get him through this season alright.

He just made sure pogshit gets his deserved red. By the time var reviewed the tackle it was too long for him to say he’s fine.

Yeah might have been in the equation, plus considering it was the third or fourth nasty foul on him and it was 5-0 there was probably a let’s not risk it element if he is feeling something.

Nah , The team saw the bruise and didn’t want to take a further chance on him.

It doesn’t apply to Naby but seeing some of the names on that list reminds me of a famous comment about a player (Carlton Palmer, maybe?) that, ā€œhis second touch was always a tackleā€

I understand that it is a difficult situation (expectations, his contract situation etc) but under no circumstances should he be rushed back from injuries.

Hope he doesn’t get called up by Guinea and can use the 3 weeks for recovery.

Agreed. The Boss said after the match it was Naby’s hamstring. I can’t imagine he’ll receive a National call up.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I wasn’t comfortable rushing Naby into this game. Get well soon, Naby :palms_up_together:

I saw on the post match thread it being mentioned that Naby has a low pain threshold. I think that’s pretty unfair. Like Sturridge, they’ve been down this path before and are therefore more in tune to what could become a more serious issue.

Perhaps there is an element of these players being inside their own head thinking something not serious is serious, but I don’t think we can say they have a low pain threshold.

I also don’t understand the anger. No player chooses to be injured. Naby didn’t choose for his hamstring to twinge.

As for whether it’s time to give up on Naby, just look at JoĆ«l. How many on here thought he would get through the first ten games without breaking down? There’s time still for a 26yo to get his body right. Sure it might be more difficult for a midfielder to do, but I think most can agree this guy is pretty talented and it’s therefore worth showing some patience.

He looked absolutely fuming when the physio was telling him he had to come off.

It is a worry his body is made of biscuits, but it’s certainly not his fault.

The irony that we bemoan Guinea for overplaying him and have just blasted him to play 6 games in a very condensed window.

Like the post in general but that’s really not that high a bench mark. I’ll be shocked if Joel gets to the end of the season without missing at least 2 months through injury/injuries at some point/points. At CB though we’ve done the right thing and have insane talent in depth!

Loved his little one-twos before he came off. Technically such a clean player, especially in small spaces.

He’s been here for 3 years and it’s been the same story more or less every year he’s been here. Plays well for two or three games, we all get excited for him, then he either has a stinker and gets hooked or he gets injured again and disappears for a few weeks. Whether it’s bad luck, low pain threshold, injury-prone or not is irrelevant. The bottom line is he’s not reliable and it doesn’t look as though that’s ever going to change. I don’t think many people are angry about it. Just frustrated.
