Napoli vs. Liverpool | CL Match Day 1 | Sep 7, 20:00 | Stadio Diego Armando Maradona

I am not at all sure what to make of that line up. Defence looks fine, midfield looks like Elliot is the guy meant to take chances. With Diaz and Salah, I was thinking the intention was to keep it tight and hope to get something on the counter, with Elliot providing the link through. But then Firmino, which suggests Klopp expects to have a good amount of possession.

The starting lineup is solid even with the senior citizen

We’re going to get battered.

Reckon Napoli by 5 or 6 at least.

cod or haddock?

Can’t see what else we’d have done. At least the bench gives us a glimmer of what things could be like once those boys are back match fit.

Definitely think we’ll need plans to sub Milner and Elliott so maybe we see Arthur and Thiago at some point. Fingers crossed we’re not rushing them into playing.

I didn’t think we would miss Mane so much but we just look light up front without him…

Could it be like this

Alisson
Trent Gomez VVD Robertson
Fabinho Milner
Elliott Firmino Diaz
Salah

It almost worked against Everton…

Don’t be such a drama queen, Firmino looks a world beater now Sadio is out his spot light.

Lets go Bobbeh lets’ goooo

The mentality is what is missed more than anything. He more than anyone seemed to have a knack for getting the tough goal when things were looking shaky.

Don’t have a problem Milner starting .
Quite honestly we need a Captain out there tonight .
Others including Virgil haven’t got what Milner has .
Go on lad
Prove them wrong

Does solid even cut it now?

Gone are the days of getting a 0-0 away from home in Europe. We need an inspirational performance

Im happy enough with that line up. We cant expect Thiago, Jota or Arthur to be fit enough for a long spell in the match yet, and id rather they are introduced in the latter stages to turn the game (if needed) compared to starting them and turning to a weaker bench.

Don’t like this midfield one bit :disappointed:

He’s been at the club one week after not playing since May.

I’ve read that Liverpool has never managed to win at Napoli before, so that would be a first if we could get one today.

I prepared myself for a long evening, expect a difficult game nevertheless, but hopefully with a positive outcome.

Fingers crossed
