He’s currently at 3.5 dribbled past times per 90mins at the mo. Thats a guy whose legs aren’t there anymore.

Ok we can compare their injuries too, Gerrard at Curtis age still played far more games.
What I do know is he’s a very average player and we shouldv’e taken that 25m bid from Villa when we had the chance.

Given that he is coming from Serie A, Napoli is not a bad opponent for him to step up his involvement. He will have a good deal more familiarity with them than most of the side.

Gerrard at that age had much less of a battle to get his place.
Jones has Thiago, Keita, Hendo and the now excellent young talent Elliot vying with him for two positions .
If he was playing for Villa, injury free we would be talking about a cheeky £50m bid for him.
He is going to be a sensational player in the next couple of years.

Every game this season is going to be a struggle if we’re counting on Milner/Henderson to be the creative number 10 midfielder. If Thiago could play as maybe games as De Bruyne, we would be be back fighting for the title. But Thiago only seems to be playing 25% of all competitive games for us. No idea why a young creative number 10 midfielder has not been addressed within the past 5 years.
Because, as you have already established, Gerrard was a better player than Jones. A fully fit Jones isn’t a starter, whereas a 21 year old Gerrard was one of the club’s best players. He still suffered with a lot of injuries.
