It is now, thankfully (!!!), getting torpedoed after all the outrage, as Chelsea, Manchester City and now Athletico Madrid have all withdrawn. It just shows that if enough people, from rival clubs, are united together for a good cause, you can stop even the devil himself manifesting on earth. So, so happy now. All that remains now is for our club to throw in the towel and accept the many eggs that will be, for good and valid reasons, thrown our way for quite some time (the club have already created incalculable PR damage, so we shall have to accept some egg throwing for some months).
But the clock is ticking now, the longer the club waits to withdraw, the worse it will be. The cartel project is dead anyway, so if the board and the owners have a shred of realpolitik brain cells, they announce Liverpool’s withdrawal now fairly soon. At least then, some damage will be mitigated.
This is the gravest assault on fair play in sports in my lifetime and I am truly anxious for Liverpool to withdraw asap. At least withdraw before the Glaciers do…
