It was a big game of chicken. UEFA called their bluff and the 12 clubs completely underestimated the fan and media backlash that would come from this. I think the expectation was that UEFA would panic and cancel the announcement of their plans in order to renegotiate with these 12 clubs some more favorable terms for the revamped CL. It hasnât worked.

Iâd believe that they actually signed off last week, but I highly doubt they werenât well aware of these plans for months, if not longer. The notion that theyâre only NOW considering the implications of the ESL is laughably false. Who do they think theyâre fooling?

FSG have still got no idea at all.
First they make the statement without consulting anyone who may have a clue,start a shit fight,then pull out without apologising to anyone.
Presumably the only people they consulted were their bean counters,clearly based in the US.
They just blew a whole lot more of the goodwill they may have had!
To my mind there is no way back for them now.
For any of these business men who have just tried screwing their fans, all football fans for that matter

Imagine putting a super league together and not consulting fans but also players.
Then why go public with it when no teams from Germany, France or Portugal wanted to join.
It was a complete non starter. Every team of the 12 have made themselves look total idiots.
