I have to say, after the apology from John Henry, Iām happy to try and build towards a trusting relationship with FSG again. I know they fucked up, they have fucked up before, but still I canāt see any owner in the world to keep us competing and not be an oil sheikh or even worse some shady chinese business man.
Even if it means no money for signings in the summer.

OK so players appear to have backed the fans and helped kill this leagueā¦but arenāt they also partly responsible for the whole fiasco with their obscene wage demands and agents fees? A faint whiff of hypocrisy for me.

Absolutelyā¦but I have never heard a current player ever acknowledge that their wage demands are part of the reason for the mess. It is the elephant in the room.
Listening to John Barnes interview on BBC TV this morning, he believes it. Players can voice support for fans all they like but it is their transfer fees, wages and agent fees that mean many fans are priced out of attending gamesā¦as Barnes said.

Then can we object to clubs desperately looking for new ways to pay them and finance new signingsā¦? I was 100% against the ESLā¦but I recognise the conundrumā¦fans will still demand FSG put hands in pockets to buy the best players availableā¦and pay them.

After Bosman ruling thats the way it is, the players (agents) have the power in the transfer market and oil sheikhs have inflated the market to the extent of clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona not being able to run their clubs sustainably ( they have mostly themselves to blame though for their current misery).
We the fans are more of a problem though for not calling this out, we moan when our club does not spend 80m for Koulibaly in January during a global pandemic. We moan when we just donāt want to make a 30 year old midfielder one of the highest earning players at the club. We moan after losing two games that the whole squad needs to be rebuilt. We moan when we eventually wonāt sign Mbappe or HĆ„land. Its our fault for wanting our club to go into this crazy unsustainable race to sign every flavour of the month around the globe.
Its us who need to look in the mirror and not pat ourselves in the back after forcing this league to be scrapped. Football still needs to change.

Problem is in the mid 90s what would Barnes have been on? 15-20k per week? Which would still have been scandalous so itās all well and good commenting on it but he was at one time per of the problem
