I kind of wish you’d both be convicted in Singapore at this point.

I’d imagine they’ve got some harsh penalties for being an argumentative pain in the arse.

That is fair

I’ve only been in Singapore once and then I was terrifying of walking of jaywaling. Lovely city though (except for the fact that the monsoon came on my first day there and it was quite interesting how wet I managed to become in just a few seconds).

FFS why would I interest myself with that Magnus.
All I got was 4 years for rape. What do you expect the reaction to be?

Point taken.

I was probably unfair to you. It seems I am not having the best of days here on the forum.

I don’t have the energy to say more about this now.

No worries Magnus I know how you can be .
I think we have a tendance to ‘judge’ things from what we know of what’s what in the countries we live. There’s no royalty in France but bugger me are there shit for brains when it comes to the rich and powerful.

I love old trees. We have baobabs in particular that are 1000’s of years old. I have not been to one in years although there is one in particular in Southern/Central Kruger that is the southernmost baobab in Africa that I have stood under many times. Enormous girth, squat and unyielding yet living. One stands and imagines a world relatively untouched by humans, or in the case of that part of the world, almost completely untouched. At that particular baobab, quite a bit removed from the main road and in almost complete silence except for the wild around you, you can literally feel how the world once was, the comings and goings of generations upon generations of wildlife unperturbed. In the case of this oak, the weight of history and what and who might have passed beneath. It’s quite fascinating, inspiring and at the same time melancholy. To me, anyway.

A sad story, and a reflection once against how evil these Gulf states are. Anyone thinking about going there should think twice. This young woman is British citizen, but while being held at Bur Dubai Police Station she was being forced to strip naked in front of male officers, without a female officer present, which she said was “deeply humiliating and distressing”.

She might still be executed by a firing squad if convicted of premeditated murder.
