I noticed this story relating to a plan to replace the Mercator projection for maps of the world with the Equal Earth projection:
This is presented as being an Afrocentric move as it was proposed by Togo, but it actually has the biggest impact in Northern Europe and Canada which were massively distorted.
I think it’s long overdue, although I don’t know what effect it will have on flightpaths which always look bizarre on the Mercator maps.

i hear there was a bit of trouble in Liverpool today between Celtic and Rangers fans at a Irish bar called Fritzgeralds

The absolute hopeless nerd in me feel the need to inform everyone that the Swedish one is incorrect. No one says that, not in that context.
You cannot directly translate always. “jag vil knulla dig” means I want to fuck you, as in sex…
The correct translation would be more “dra åt helvete” (go to hell), which is what fuck off more or less means . “knulla deg”, can be used as an insult, but then we are talking about masturbation of some sort (or even darker, rape).
The problem here is that English swear words tends to be sexual in nature, mostly due to the repressed sexuality during the Victorian era, so sexual words like cunt are considered “gosh, that is so, so cruel and rude” (not really seen with a Scandinavian lens). In other countries, we literally curse people. As in wishing the devil to take them, such as “Faen ta deg” (may the devil take you etc.) Rather more grim if you ask me than the sexual stuff the English find so insulting, but I digress (as I often do) 
So culturally, this is quite different. Scandinavian swear words are much more direct and far darker. It’s about wishing pain and misery, and eternal hellfire etc., upon people (exaggeration of course, but all swearing tend to be that), not merely calling them a vulgar word for a sexual organ. I believe it is some what similar in German (Schweinehund, in Norwegian we would say “ditt forbanna svin”, which translates to a cursed swine, though again; direct translation is so-so when it comes to this).
And yes, Livvy ! You are quite right if you guessed that Magnus just couldn’t sleep tonight, so ended up posting a long yarn about nothing important (but nerdy) in particular.
Anyway, in Scandinavia, the worst insults are the religious ones, not the sexual ones. The sexual ones are “lighter” and less insulting. “Forbanna idiot, or Satans idiot” (you cursed/damned idiot), is more insulting than “jævla kuk” (cursed cock/penis). Fitte (cunt) is a bit more insulting, but that is mostly due to it’s mysoginistic history of use (i.e. if you call a woman a jævla fitte aka cursed cunt, it carries certain mysoginistic undertones due to historical use (she is “just” a cunt, as in she doesn’t have any other worth); not what the word actually means “cunt” (which is after all, just a vulgar form of vagina, so no big deal in itself). But again, historical use; that word is very, very insulting in English despite not really meaning much in reality.

Incidentally, Fitte aka Cunt, is actually a very venerable word. One of the oldest in fact in Norwegian despite being a “hush hush” word that is too vulgar to use in polite company.
Jón silkifuð á mik en Guþormr fuðsleikir reist mik en Jón fuðkula ræðr mik.
The runestone translates to “Jon silk-cunt owns me, Guttorm Cunt-licker inscribed me and Jon Cunt-mound intepreted me”.
On another rune stone found in Bergen, it says: felleg er fuþ sin bylli, which translates to “Lovely is the cunt, may the cock fill her up”
So quite venerable and old indeed (also shows that boys will be boys, I guess)
