What the hell was that?! Me wants!
Spider-Man game with a mod
Will it run on a modern OS though? Otherwise
Amazon Prime Gaming are giving away Assassins Creed Origins and Middle Earth: Shadows of War later this week.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider free on Epic for the week.
Any motorsports fans here, I’ve been quite enjoying F1 Manager 2022 that released the other day. There are a couple of minor issues that hopefully updates will sort out, but worth a look.
Been playing it on my channel as well: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL61ChivpuMa_pAJLyk2x3wpoGZO6w5wfE
Yep, same. Really enjoyed Owlcat’s two Pathfinder RPGs!
I think the developers have said they expect Rogue Trader to be better balanced upon release than their two earlier games.
There have been some excellent Warhammer games this year with TWW3, Chaos Gate: Demonhunters and now Darktide. Rogue Trader looks like it has a good chance of joining them in terms of quality.
I’m playing Tacticus on Android and between it and Bolt Thrower’s early albums, it’s about as close I got to Warhammer 40K - I’d like to get involved with it but I don’t know where to start.
What would you like to get involved with, the video games or the desktop gaming?
Video games, I guess, but I’d love to get involved with the lore. One of my best mates says that there’s a ton of books and that he also doesn’t know where to start.
Yeah, I wouldn’t know where to start on the lore either and am wanting to get more into it myself. At the moment I usually pick bits up from watching gamers on Twitch.
As for video games pretty much hit or miss. A wide range of variety but little in depth of genre. A lot of cheap games with an expectation you buy lootboxes etc. However, there are some decent ones out there and they generally follow the pattern of games workshop products - a base game with DLC to follow usually of different characters/ races etc.
For Left for dead style games - Darktide would be the game. Due out this week I think. The Beta has been hugely popular and well recieved (they were also behind the fantasy version - vermintide).
Rogue Trader is out next year but is made by the team behind Pathfinder 1 & 2, so might be the best choice for an RPG.
Action RPG there is Inquisitor: Martyr if you want something with a diablo feel.
3rd person shooter probably Space Marine. A bit dated now but it finally has a highly anticipated sequal out next year or 2024.
X-Com style would be Chaos Gate: Daemon hunters - came out earlier this year and there is a new DLC out in December. Very well recieved. Another choice might be Mechanicus which came out in 2018.
If you like Civilization, then Gladius may be of interest as it is supposed to be quite similar to Civ 5.
FPS - Necromunda: Hired Gun came out in the last 18 months was a bit janky but looked ok. There is a Doom pastiche coming out next year called Boltgun which might be fun.
Real Time Strategy - the dawn of war series. 1&2 were well recieved. 1 had more base building I think. 3 flopped. These are fairly old now though.
Turn based strategy - Armageddon (think Panzer General), Dark Sanctum and Battle Sector (the newest of these games).
Card Games - Warpforge is out next year I think.
Shootas, Blood and Teef if you like old style 2d Scroller shooter. It came out recently.
There are probably some titles out there I have forgotten, and I’ve deliberately left some out but this should be a reasonable starter guide. For example I haven’t included any of the space hulk games or fire warrior because I can’t remember if they were worth playing now.
This post should be pinned, wow! Thank you so, so much! From your description, Chaos Gate, Mechanicus and Space Marine should be something that will interest me. I’m pretty sure I played two games ages ago (same series, I think, squad based strategy, though I’m not sure if it was also turn-based) but I genuinely can’t remember the titles…
PSA for anyone planning to get Callisto Protocol on release, apparently it runs like an absolute dog on PC (but is much better on PS5).
Currently sitting at ‘mostly negative’ (26% positive) on Steam also…
