PC gaming thread

finally got around to doing Uncharted 4.

I’m at the legacy of thieves at the moment, and that’s one very nice well made game.

Just finished the lost legacy. That’s a cracking game.

Have any of you tried emulators for Ps4 games ?

I’ve been wanting to finish Uncharted 2? Would they work correctly ?

My gaming days are long over. Haven’t switched on my PlayStation 4 for almost 3 years but my sideboard would look very empty if I would remove it :grimacing:

Treated myself with a modded PS Vita handheld. It has over 5000 games (PlayStation 1, PSP, PS Vita, Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo, NES, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, Game Boy, Sega Mega Drive) on it.

Don’t care about most of the stuff some of the NES games bring back some great childhood memories with my two late older brothers.

I’m looking to upgrade my GPU soon. I did a little bit of a rebuild in 2022 just for office based computing but looking at a gaming GPU + PSU (just due to GPU requirements) + 21:9 1440p gaming monitor.

I haven’t gamed on anything but a PS4 pro for about 8 years but before that had about 20 years pc building so I’m looking forward to get back into the pc space. With cheaper games, no monthly multiplayer subscriptions and in particular, much better graphics.

This week is big with the 9070 and 9070xt on the way. I’m really interested to see where they land between 7800xt, 7900gre, 7900xtx and 5070ti. Honestly, unless 9070xt lands at around US$500 which is extremely doubtful - I think it will be 650-700 - then I’ll be looking at either 9070 or 7900gre… I’m interested to see whether AMD can backport their improved RT implementation to the 7000 series. FSR I’m not too bothered with atm as FSR/DLSS is kind of useless on mid-top GPUs at 1440p but AMD improving on their first iteration of RT is important to me and may be the deciding factor for me between 7000 and 9000 series.

Either way, AMD look like they might meet a good performance and price standard against a competitor that’s really tanking this generation with their fake frames, fake stock, fake price and melting power connectors.

Alright.

Kid got the fixation that Mortal Kombat is a good game for him to play.

I really want to turn him off that game by spamming moves and doing the fatalities.

Just so I can say boo yeah.

Still remember that moves for the scorpion character in mk trilogy. I was unbeatable.

Really looking forward to this one, hope they nail it because if they do I think it could be fantastic.

I’ve been playing Clair Obscur a bit. Nice game. I am not sure I agree with it being classed as an RPG though. Very much a story driven adventure game with more similarities to The Last of Us than to BG3. There is no loot drop to speak of, attribute and skill trees are very rudimentary.
But so far it’s such a well designed game with an interesting take on combat.

Looks a beautiful game. The parry mechanism looks really difficult and frustrating so i suspect i wont be playing it for very long. Which is possibly a good thing as there are so many games i want to play right now and some more coming out soon too

Yeah, I’ve not tried it but reading all the comments about the combat system makes me think it’s not for me, seems to be a pretty big part of the game too.

I struggle a bit with tight timing mechanics like that, and sounds like it’s a key thing to master.

Yeah sometimes I feel like I need to pull off a Daigo Parry just to defeat an early game monster. I’m kind of falling back to dodge which is a safer bet.

Haven’t really played anything in a while, so I thought of trying out an RPG. Used to love them when I was younger but kind of lost the ability to enjoy them over time. I mean a proper RPG, not these modern action-RPGs. Anyway, started playing Disco Elysium for the first time and thoroughly enjoying it so far.

One of the all-time greats of the genre.

Recommendations for when you’re done with that would include Baldur’s Gate 3, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and Rogue Trader.

If you want something that’s a little bit less impressive on the presentation side but a faithful recreation of tabletop D&D 5e, you could also check out Solasta: Crown of the Magister, which has a sequel on the way.

Disco Elysium is an awesome game. One I plan to pick up and finish a play through one day.

I would second @ZinedineBiscan’s suggestions. I’ve just started a BG3 playthrough last weekend as I have never got beyond the early part of the game (I have about 5 games on the go lol!). Once I’ve got through that I will go back and finish my playthrough of Rogue Trader.
