Disco Elysium is a game that is so good it shouldn’t exist - its success led to a rift between the members of the design team and we probably won’t ever see its sequel, which is a shame. An absolute, all-time classic.
Anyone into the Civilization series?
Not the recent games.
Played the old civ 2/3 quite a bit.

The new Doom game looks good. Was watching some gameplay this morning.
Have known for quite a while now that Paradox was working on EU:V, still excited to see it’s close to release. Hopefully they don’t botch the launch as they have the past couple of games. Very big shoes to fill, EU:IV still gets massive playtime
I’ve yet to sink much time into any of the paradox games, always seem a bit of a struggle for me to get into… Hopefully i will do sometime this year.
They’re not beginner friendly at all, especially Europa universalis. I go through waves of “I can’t sink time into this” and “Fuck it, I like killing the french”
Playing world of warcraft - legion on a private server while finally got the kid interested in a proper rpg game - ff7 (the remake).
Not saying wow is the best mmo around in its current avatar but legion does bring back some good (and bad memories).
The private server is reasonably populated and quite friendly. I’d recommend it to anyone who would want to play a mmorpg which isn’t heavy on the specs , a pretty good storyline (for those who are interested in that) and reasonably good gameplay (still think wow’s gameplay as far as mmo’s goes is the best of the lot.
Another thing that it becomes boring AF. But some of the mythic keystone dungeons are pretty fun.
Two years ago bought a pc which i use for gaming at 1080p, which i am very happy with. I dont play competitively. I also probably cant tell the difference between high, medium or low settings easily so am in no rush to upgrade on that side of things. And i see that minimum recommended settings for most titles are still below what i have, so i dont think i need to rush. Would like to get some odeas though from which i can plan/ budget for.
When buying the PC i knew i would need to upgrade at somepoint in the next few years as it is an older motherboard. I had expected that any future rebuild would be between 3 options
New PC
New motherboard, Cpu (GPU and other bits as and when required)
Keep motherboard but max out everything else.
Then i got reading this weekend that my CPU is still fine to use with 5060/5070 (or equivalent) series cards. I figure that by the time i do upgrade prices for this range may have dropped as newer cards will be due on the market if not already there
So just wondering what people’s views are in regards to how i should plan for any future upgrading - could i get away with just swapping out the GPU (and adding more Ram, Wattage) this time round, or is it better to do aim to do one of the bigger upgrades?.
Also, how does one know what parts are responsible for any particular drop in performance (or is it always going to be the GPU thats likely to be the one that needs replacing) ?
Main specs are
gpu 3060,
Cpu 5600g
16gb Ram
B550 motherboard (AM4 chipset).
Thanks
From a gaming perspective, you would want to focus more on your GPU than CPU.
The CPU is a general perpose sequential processor, so is more focused on handling single tasks 1 after another.
A GPU is more attuned for handling parallal tasks when multiple things need to be done at the same time, so from a gaming perspective would be more important. So the CPU is more of the brains of the operation and the GPU is the workhorse.
Or for a simple breakdown, CPU is prime Andrea Pirlo whilst the GPU is 1981-84 Graeme Souness
Also these GPUs have varients with different VRAM and clockspeeds for the same model. How much of a performance difference does that make? The price difference between varients can get pretty significant too.
Pretty sure for a casual gamer , your specs are more than decent for the next 2 years.
Assuming you are a casual gamer.
See what games are coming in for the next 2 years before deciding on whether to make the call now.
