Sounds Like Arne a couple of weeks ago xxx
I take great offence to that comparison.
I have a full head of hair
For now!
Is that a threat, promise or a spoiler?

Don’t threaten me with a good time ![]()
Anyway, getting back on topic. Had a horrid finish to my first season finishing 5th. Got knocked out in the Play Off Semi Final and had the dreaded Board Meeting for failing to achieve direct promotion.
Managed to convince the board to keep me on as I felt with some good youth intake from the Premier League I could build a squad to win the league next season. Started negotiating contracts with the key players I wanted and each one of the greedy pricks wanted totally unrealistic wages - Skipper and CM on 450p/w suddenly thinks he is prime Gerrard and demands 3.5k, 38yo CB that could only play every 2nd game due to fitness earning 500p/w wanting 2K p/w and refused to drop expectations. Realising I was about to lose the entire squad I was toying with letting my contract run out and take my chances finding another club when they decided to go Professional. With Pro status that means more options for training and more flexibility in contracts so might open up options for players I previously would not have thought possible.
No clue what to do now, do I stay or still go?
I’m soon going to deep dive back into the EU world. I’m a long term fan of the series, having played the original EU1 back in the days when you’d download 100 RARs to get a cracked game online for free.
I played the series heavily up to EU3, then EU4 a bit but with the number of expansions, I never devoted the time the game required. EU5 by all accounts is a huge step up for Europa which I feel has lagged behind many other Paradox games in some of the gameplay dynamics, so for me it might be a crawl back into Europa via video tutorials and maybe playing one of the beginner nations like Portugal. I just need to work out when to pull the trigger knowing my evenings will completely disappear with this (3 kids will make that a challenge).
How do you identify loan targets without proper scouting funds/scouts? Or do you only bring in players through trials?
Wait until they get released then offer trials.
Any that immidiately show less than 3 star potential are cancelled and move down the list. Review on a weekly basis to see coaches report and then rank CA against the squad to see which, if any are likely to strengthen the starting XI within the next 6 months
I know your fetishes
Stellaris is not that hard to learn. It is also very fun. It is certainly far easier to learn than Europa Universalis. I would give it a go, although I suppose I must mention that Paradox prices DLCs very high.
I had my run with Kaiserslaustern in 2.BL. Got them to 1.BL first season, then in the subsequent season in 1.BL I won all home games and lost all away games. Also had a few old players with high wages and wouldn’t sell, so I terminated, sold, put in the 2nd team, let the contracts end, relied on loans and unknown players… comfortably mid table, and then the chairman gave me a transfer budget of 10 millions euro. I dropped the game and haven’t played since.
The main reason why I play it is to roleplay a Liverpool manager anyway, and that fun only lasts until most players in the team turn into regen. Can’t yet justify spending $80 for that, negative reviews notwithstanding.
That is fair enough.
I personally enjoy moving around to random teams, improving them then moving on. One of my favorite saves was from FM22 using a bunch of downloaded leagues had a full career in Asia starting in Mongolia and goring through Taiwan, Hong Kong, Nth Korea, China, Japan and Sth Korea before taking the Mexico job and winning Gold Cup and World Cup with them. But everyone enjoys the game in their own way, so there is no one correct way to play it.
Unless you scum save continually ![]()
I only started playing from FM23 after a lot of nagging from a fellow Liverpool fan. I was planning to see if I could recruit all ex-Liverpool reserve players to a certain team.
I couldn’t, but my favourite save scum from that was using my newly founded Atletico Ottawa to beat Toronto FC in both Canadian Championship and the CONCACAF. Have never tried the international teams, maybe I should.
I’m trying the fm26 mobile game which comes bundled with Netflix first.
My general gameplay is for 4 seasons in football manager. Doesn’t have my attention any longer. Certainly don’t play till I get regens etc.
Thats a good shout. I’ve got Stellaris but havent yet had chance to put much time into it.
I think I’m going to make my way to going for cloud GPU based gaming when it finally does get launched.
The internet speed in India is relatively alright (atleast where I stay).
I suspect this will be the future though, as opposed to spending loads on pc upgrades.
