Becker cannot come back soon enough. Maybe Becker should stop practicing. Seems to get injured a lot.
That’s probably about the best we can hope for Adrian - 1 decent save, didn’t fuck up the routine saves (though he still won’t catch anything even remotely powerful), 4 or 5 dicey moments he was fortunate to get away with. I’d take that level of performance every game until Ali is back.
Fat and made of glass. #needyoumorethaneverAli.
Behave yourself.
This is why I think the keeper is the most important position to get right. It’s not just about pure keeping ability, it’s about the impact they can have on the rest of the defence. You saw it with Mignolet and Karius. The players didn’t trust them and that causes uncertainty. Withering looks from the likes of Henderson and Milner every time they fucked up and it’s the same with Adrian. Never seen anyone have a pop at Alisson because the guys know what he’s going to do in any given situation. As well as just being a great keeper, he’s consistent and predictable. Not long before he’s back hopefully.
This is an interesting view. No wonder our attack from left seems more prominent. This maybe tactical as well to let Trent remain farther behind to cover.
Keeping Mo away from the defensive side of the game perhaps.
Maybe. Milner’s position is interesting as well. The other two midfielders are much central, whereas Milly providing that cover behind Robbo.
Whichever 2 get the start, It’s going to be a battle for the pairing v Atalanta. They shouldn’t be taken lightly. They have a group of really physical forwards. Zapata and Lammers are imposing and like to stand on, and fight with, opposing CB. Muriel is the “smallest” of the bunch and is still built like a tank. I also think the way they set their team up is going to give us something to think about. Unorthodox at times and play matchup nightmares. Gomez plays a similar “Bobby Role” for them and is dangerous.
was only able to watch the second half live
as I watched i was thinking “I REALLY like the way JK is managing this knife fight” - kinda like the Bayern slog a couple of seasons ago - not pretty but tough and grind the win out
then I watched the first half on recording later - and thought “thank god I didn’t watch this live or I would have had a heart attack”
that Fabinho clearance of the line was a thing of terrible beauty
happy with the result, and clean sheet.
nervy start by Adrian, but he did well enough - we just have to expect the occasional hiccup from our number 2 keeper!
great clearance by Fabs, reminiscent of Milly’s against Bournemouth last season!
Curtis starting was nice to see, we’ll see more from him for sure. at the end Rhys Williams got a few minutes, so positive outcome for both youngsters.
anyway, onto the next match.
I guess we did, 13-0!! Never heard of the opposition, a lot of V’ in that name though!
Stoke makes Calais look like Avignon.
