Post Match: Arseholes vs Liverpool. Kangaroo Cup. 0-2

I voted for Jota along with everyone else but my top MotM was actually Jones. There were so many occasions where he received the ball with several Arsenal players around him and immediately turned it into an attacking opportunity. I’m hoping he can get a run of games and no more stupid injuries this half of the season.

I also thought Gordon did OK. He was up against Tierney who is one of the better left backs in the league and still managed to carve out opportunities. Obviously he is only 17 and he is not up to Salah’s level yet but I can see that he is going to develop into a player that could easily cover for Salah and even be a long term replacement.

However, there wasn’t a bad performance from our side. I suspect that Arsenal suffered from the disruption that led to their postponement as we did from ours but even without that I think we would have bossed them.

So in terms of the AFCON disruption we are doing OK: Won the FA Cup tie, beat Brentford, won the League Cup tie and now it’s just Palace to make a clean sweep. That’s actually achievable.

When Jones learns to release the ball at the right time he’s going to be a fucking superstar! Got everything else, just a bit too head down currently.

Honestly Jones on the left of midfield and Elliot on the right makes me @SBYM levels of excitement.

I thought it was one of our best performances of the season. It wasn’t spectacular with loads of goals ilke some of the others we’ve seen but apart from the first ten minutes we were in total control. Once we went ahead I never thought they would get back into it. This was Arsenal’s biggest game of the season and we won it with ease.

Good controlled performance, bodes well for the CL that. Jota looked like he embraced the responsibility of being the main threat, feel like we could see him step up another gear soon.

Unusually, I had Talksport on the car radio this morning. Jim White’s nose was really out of joint because Simon Jordan and Martin Keown were praising Liverpool’s performance last night and Klopp’s management style. White interrupted Simon Jordan and said “Ok I’m going to bring this Liverpool love in to an end”. And then started to compere Klopp’s achievements to Guardiola’s over the past 7 years. Simon Jordan tried to explain the disparity in spending power of the two clubs, but White was having none of it, and invited City fans to contact the show. At this point, I remembered why I don’t usually listen to Talksport and switched off.

I see what you mean. He does this to get attention.
Danny Kelly’s Trans Euro Express show on Sunday night is wonderful. Also, Johnny Owen’s music and football nostalgia show is nice

I watched this in my favourite bar in Caleta de Fuste. Sat with my very good (Gooner) Mate. He was the only gooner in a bar full of Reds. I felt sorry for him at the end.
Some good performances all round. Diogo the best of a good bunch. He was really up for it tonight. I’ve not heard ‘much’ praise for Fab so far. I thought he was brilliant in the middle. Nullifying a lot of Arse’s attacking threat through the middle meaning they had to go through Martinelli who after a bright first ten minutes was dealt with by our right sided players.

Apparently Partey spent longer in baggage reclaim.:grin::grin:

I should add Curtis looked up and at it. Fancy footwork and lovely turns, running away from midfielders tracking him. Welcome back, son!

Agreed. Most good things we did seem to have been initiated by him one way or another. He did get bypassed on occasion but became more and more influential as the game wore on I felt.

Henderson’s quiet games of late seem out if character to me.

I thought Arsenal had signed Samuel L Jackson for a moment.

Jim White is just a shit-stirrer. It’s in his job description

It’s also why Sky has become less of an issue since comcast took over, the output garbage has shifted over, they should offer Tyler a job.

Anyhow it’s wonderful to see Klopp beaming in the press conference earlier.

That backheel flick from Bobby that bypassed the entire Arsehole midfield was pure filth!!

I thought that the lads were really good yesterday night. After a difficult start, they progressively took the sting out of Arsenal’s game, and went from strength to strength from there. Obviously, scoring a goal on our first shot on target helped, but the move for it was wonderful already, and Diogo’s goal really good.

Especially the way the lads handled Arsenal in the second half was excellent. They worked relentlessly when off the ball, and thus managed to recover it rapidly all the time. That prevented Arsenal from gaining any traction, and allowed us to enjoy a lot of dangerous situations in front of their goal. In the end, 2-0 is the least the lads deserve for their performance.

I’ll be honest: I didn’t give a * about this competition until the semi-final. But now we’ve made it, it’s a really good feeling to know that we’re going to Wembley. Yay! :+1: :star_struck:
