I don’t know what Iraola and Hughes’ relationship was like at Bournemouth but I would certainly not object to him coming here.
I’d throw in poor tracking of runners in wide areas too. Ultimately these issues have been apparent all season. Maybe the change in the back room with Heitinga leaving has had an impact on defensive and transition organisation.
Being this bad for the entire season is not acceptable, I expect FSG will pull the trigger in the summer regardless of next week.
I mean if it’s THAT easy for Slot’s setup to crumble the minute Heitinga leaves then he has no job being the LFC manager. Equally bad not being able to suss out an even or better replacement. Klopp lost Buvac, I don’t remember the team imploding, does anybody?
Ugh and now I see Jürgen’s flogging Budweiser on tv for the World Cup!
My night is complete

Case in point, that goal from their first corner. It was terrible defence to be sure, but there must have been some kind of breakdown of responsibility for the Villa player to have that much space. But having watched it back, I absolutely cannot tell who was supposed to be covering that man or that space, nor I am even sure what the marking/cover scheme was. My best guess is actually some kind of option zone cover, where everyone crowds tight near the 6 but someone is supposed to run out to cover that area if a threat moves into it. But even then, I don’t know who what would have been.
Villa pulled us out from defending that space, by directing the corner back down the wing, which drew us out, and no one from within the defensive cluster came out to fill the gap. It was actually a clever worked goal.
Aye, the lads from the 80s talk about “finding the sucker”. The idea that that on every team there’s going to be at least one guy who turns off when the ball goes out of play. Our job was to get the ball back into play quickly and figure out who it was and exploit it. We were better than everyone else not just because we were a better team. We were better because we just did everything better.
Every week that is how the other side hurts us now. It’s such a kick in the dick. I came to hate the houlllier era for the direction it took, for the joy it squeezed out for the football, but back then we are at least an honest team that showed up but that just wasn’t good enough. The problem today is not that we aren’t good enough but that way too often we are the sucker and that hurts way more.
If the comments about scoring two goals at Villa Park are correct. He can go now. Arne I am lost for words.
.
If this is what we have become after spending big I would refuse to let Arne buy anyone else. Aston Villa is 6 points over the calendar year.
.
Wow.
It’s real short-termism by Arne. If he knows we know its bollocks all he’s doing is destroying his reputation. He’ll be better received by us, and find it easier to get his next job, if he comes out and says that he’s done at the end of the season and thinks the players need someone else to motivate them etc.
The man is a fucking genius, just get him the fuck out, yesterday would be good!
Now where have we heard that before?
Call a spade a spade .
He doesn’t have any valid answers,just go.Arne,go!
Sadly, it is true..
I almost got out of bed for this. Thankfully, I went back to sleep.
The highlights were hard enough to get through.
This has to be softest team we’ve had.
One more to go.
True.
But who made the call? Doesn’t matter I suppose it’s in everyone’s interests.
I reckon Klopp would have been more direct and tapped him on the shoulder and said “It’s time Mo let’s finish on a high”. And got the best out of him because he has been shite this year.
We scored 2 when we lost by 7 - 2 as well.
Wouldn’t mind them winning the Europa either.
As for us, that went exactly the way everyone expected.
