Interestingly, since the Forest game the Referee Panel have come out and said Forest’s penalty shouldn’t have stood. Obviously doesn’t change the result or it’s impact on the table but does offer a bit of a confidence boost that it could have been another win for us in a run of games we were expecting to be somewhat challenging while we get up to speed under the new manager.

After five matches, a small sample size admittedly…
We have Isak as second highest scorer…
Gakpo as joint highest assists …
Virgil in top five completed passers..
Allison joint number of clean sheets with 3.
This is in a team transitioning to a new style, new tactics and new manager.
But the focus is on Wirtz, still believe he comes good, Szoboszlai, needs consistency and random others who are deemed not good enough.
Red tinted glasses firmly on, but its better than some think. And I reckon it will improve.

Can’t be slagging off Gakpo, Mac Allister or Isak quite so much right now given their performances and Gravenberch and Frimpong aren’t playing as much so it’s time for people to pick new targets to moan about.

Can´t fault his work ethic but it´s just reality that Wirtz isn´t even close to the level we expect of him with the ball.
If he does get there (and the midfield improves), we will go up several levels from our (fairly decent) start. The potential is there to really kick on.
Cody has been our key player; had we sold him so late to spurs we may be struggling points wise right now.

Is this even worth commenting on?
Bournemouth didn’t once rip through us despite lethargic performances from Gakpo, Barcola and Isak imo.
Defensively we are much better. If when Wirtz slows a player in possession down we could get players in hounding that player, like Bournemouth did, we could end up with the ball much higher up the pitch which in turn might mean our attack grows some more teeth.
We have good improvement defensively whilst carrying a few players from what I have seen. Some of that is down to Witte hard work. Work that Firmino once did for us.
Szoboszlai is improving defensively and with the addition of Jacquet and Araujo we only have to worry about lapses from VVD.
Of course we would all love for our attack to have more teeth. Perhaps that will come in the next 5 games.
Isak still lacks presence however he scores just imagine if he had a little more animal in him 
.

He even showed some aggression to get down that right wing for the goal. Then at time in possession he does show that aggression. Defensively a bit soft and doesn’t even go for the balls lobbed forward by VVD, nor does Isak. Somewhere where we could get more change from. Particularly if we got other players on around to fight for the second ball.
There’s much to improve that would make us do much more dangerous. I’m starting to look forward to the next 5 matches.
The next one is against Shitty, I’m not sure we’re up there yet still we be interesting to see.

Well, we are also playing 3 centre backs in our back four. You would expect us to be more solid. And we weren´t playing prime Barca. They did get the headed chance where Ali made a top class save though and one over the bar they missed from close, but yes they didn´t threaten that much overall relative to last year´s Liverpool.
Is Szoboslai improving defensively?
Ultimately Wirtz succeeds or fails here based on what he does on the ball. Not by being Momo Sissoko in the 10 role. Hopefully he gets back to what he is capable of. If that comes, that is when we will be nearer the level we expects. If it doesnt, we will struggle.

I hope you don’t go on social media writing this negative stuff, I only relay my thoughts on here. It’s amazing that there’s those that are even more negative than me. I thought I was the doom and gloom merchant. I’m always looking for improvement however when it comes I say so but find new stuff to criticise.
Ok you thing the club fucked up buying Wirtz and you could be right however he is what we have. And no I don’t think he’s doing super great however he’s doing some things right. It must be really difficult playing ‘behind’ such a toothless attack.
For the moment I think it’s all/still down to the coaches and manager.
What I criticise is what I think the manager should be trying to improve.
Selling the players the manager is using and buying new ones to replace them isn’t going to help where we are. In fact it will complicate things.

Negativity about what? I didn´t mention Klopp or Firmino.
I said he´s way off the level we expect right now (he is) and if we get him to the level he is capable of, we will really improve. What is negative about that? Negative would be saying he´s shit, always will be and we are doomed. I´m saying he is playing badly but he has a lot of potential we need to get out of him for our success.
When did I say sell him??? Or that we fucked up buying him? I´ve never once said either of those things. You´re getting worked up about things I don´t think and have never said.

Cody has a distinct mix of size, strength, speed, and, when he uses them, ridiculously quick feet. He can do more line breaking runs like that when he’s in the mood. That’s why last season was so frustrating
