FT: Brentford 0-2 Liverpool
Liverpool boss Arne Slot told BBC Sport: "During the season youāre hoping for these moments. Many moments - we could have scored a late winner against United, Forest, Fulham. Today it worked. We managed to score in the last few seconds.
āWe were close to not getting what we deserved. The amount of chances we created was like on Tuesday against Forest - a lot. We were close to going off without a win. That combined with a late winner is what we were most happy about. And it was a significant game.ā
On Darwin Nunez: "Heās always having a lot of impact when he comes in. Brings energy and power. Most of our games are the last half hour in control around 18 yards, and thatās where heās at his best. The first hour is often open but the last 30 minutes dominant. Then to have someone like Darwin is nice to have.
āI donāt only look at results. We created a lot. But now itās a win so I donāt have to say look at our performance. I was very pleased with our performance. Brentford made it a fight. They have good players and a good game plan. It was a nice game to watch like every time Liverpool are on the pitch.ā
Trent was massive today, nothing for the haters to cry about.

John Murray
BBC Radio 5 Live chief football correspondent
The groans and gasps on the concourse here at the Emirates as the Darwin Nunez goals went in.
That simply means Arsenal need to follow up their very good win against Tottenham with another one.
Hard for Diaz IMO, as he is getting some mild criticism when he is having to work too hard on the press
Iām not going say no to a threesome with them.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk: āEvery win is a big result. Especially when the teams around us are very strong. We have to stay consistent, win games and perform well.ā
On Darwin Nunezās double: āYou have to earn these things. As a striker you get judged on goals especially at a club like Liverpool. Today he put his mark on the game. Very important. We need everyone at their best. Today was his day.ā
Were they at their best? āI think so, yeah. Donāt you think so?ā
"They have a very clear structure. You try to break a low block down and if you lose the ball sometimes you can get a counter-attack on you. They create some danger moments. They create them against any team in the league. We handled it well and could have scored more.
"There is no walk in the park. Every game, teams are very good. They want to play their best game against us like we want to play our best game against them.
āIf nobody is ready for a bumpy ride then this season will definitely be one.ā
Fixed it for him.
Good win against Spurs Arsenal were terrible Spurs beat themselves
@Livvy you noticed Szobo removed his headband there?
I think we played well today. Anyhow I think it was me throwing the calendar away at 87 mins that did it.
I think the score line was very belatedly a fair reflection of the game. The anxiety of the fans was understandable, but the performance was a lot better than that reaction and included a lot of the right things. As important as the points are, I wonder if the validation of the importance of continuing to play our game rather than panicking will be more important. We saw a bit of it against Forest last week where we were really unfortunate to not get what we deserved, but this time the goals came.
MotM is obvious, but huge shout out to Trent today, and not even for his key involvement in the first goal. He avoid the temptation to camp out forward today aware of their back post threat and found himself in a position several times where had he not been so responsible we would have got found out.
It seems to be a default response of @cynicaloldgit to question how long people have been a fan / supporter of this club. Iām pretty sure heās not the oldest person around here so I donāt why he responds in that manner.
Of course, if he responds to this heāll do so by saying that I donāt have a sense of humour.
Letās hope in a good way eh?
Virg basically telling us all to STFU.
Has anyone even mentioned our clean sheet?
No, Iāll answer it by saying that we had a game just a few years ago where we had 30+ shots but lost.
And, despite all the jokes, I am nowhere near the oldest person here. And itās not a ādefault responseā - in fact, I have never asked anyone that.
Wait, if I understand that correctly:
We had 34 shots and 6 on target before NĆŗƱez came on, and finished with 37 shots and 8 on target.
He also missed one, didnāt he?
So we shoot a lot until he comes on then stop shooting?
Never in doubt.
Harveyās gorgeous short pass to Trent made it all possible.
Like Endo, we really need to find a way to get that man playing more.
