Post Match: Brentford v Liverpool (EPL 18/1/25 3pm)

Still felt that Arne should have brought on Elliott and Chiesa earlier and it is now my hope that Arne understands more that there is quality to come on an what fresh legs bring.

On that, Diaz seems to be having to work too hard when pressing, he seems to be having to press 2 men and our press today was rather poor, he then is knackered when he actually gets on the ball.

Been called in last minute to work on a Sunday. Thank you Nunez for making tomorrow less miserable.

Come on Emery!

Hard to argue as we won but still felt subs should have been 10 mins earlier

Alisson being interviewed on Radio 5. Says we fully deserved the win and that all the team are really happy for Darwin, not only for the goals he scored but for his attitude and his work rate.

Again, the subs worked perfectly and 3 of them had a hand in itā€¦

1st goal: Elliott gets the ball at the edge of the box, sees TAA busting a gut down the right and feeds him. TAA fucks up the first cross but is determined to win the ball and get a second try. His second try ended up on Nunezā€™s feet who subconsciously steered the ball past Flekken.

2nd goal: Chiesa receives the ball close to the last Brentford defender who was doing an offside trap. Stays onside, kept his balance and fed the ball to Elliott who sprints into the edge of the box and fed it to Nunez. This time, Nunez decides to not think too much and smashes the ball right past Flekken.

If the subs gain the trust of Slot, we can go farā€¦Now, the key thing is how to get Slot to trust Endo to sub in for Gravenberch?

Gakpo mustā€™ve been told to concentrate on blocking passing lanes than engaging in the press against Roerslev. It meant Diaz having to keep pressing two players.

Believe me Nunez is going to play a major role in this title race.

Indeed. Chiesa is very very smart. Fuck me, I thought he was offside for the second goal but replays shown at the instant when the pass is played, he manages to keep himself onside by at least 10cm. Holy fuck, how do you do that against a last defender holding a line with your back to him?

Feels like Chiesa is a fan first, player secondā€¦

This is what you get when TAA decides to give 100% of his abilitiesā€¦taking on the fucking defender and pinning him back.

@mattyhurst Nunez is hotter than Szoboszlai.

Liverpoolā€™s 37 shots vs Brentford is the most an away team has had in a Premier League game in recorded history (since 03-04) just unbelievable.

Nunez in the 6000th game.

Delighted with the three points and delighted for Darwin Nunez. When he came in he gave us something extra, winning headers, pressing, and making them turn back to their keeper. Sadly some of our fans were getting stuck into him even at that stage.

I was desperate for him to score the winner, and the late brace was superb.

Psychologically it does a lot, both ways. Arsenal and the chasing pack must have been gutted. In turn we are lifted, and quite possibly that was the game that breaks the slump weā€™ve been in, relatively speaking.

For Nunez himself, hopefully it fills him with confidence and shows him he belongs at this level. Take charge Darwin lad, and boss it like you did today.

Get in! Made up with that.
