Post Match: Burnley v Liverpool (EPL 19/5/21 8.15pm)

They weren’t any better than fake crowd noise that lot, in fact I assume on two goals our lot could be made out on the bench as I heard some cheering.

Didn’t they boo the knee I missed the first 5 minutes… sad

After such a crap season we still have the 3rd best defensive record and the joint third best attacking record.

The fake crowd noise didn’t have the constant booing, I thought it was Goodison Park! And yes, some people did boo, when the players took the knee, although the commentators ignored it.

Not a poor performance in sight, everyone played well for most of the game. Nat and Thiago edging MOTM. I just wish we would not mess about around our own penalty area as much . Passing across our own box should be banned, it is heart attack stuff. Also our passing was again walking pace stuff in the first half . By all means play out from the back but let´s make our passes a little more crisp please. The quicker we get the ball forward the quicker we put the opposition on the back foot and take the pressure off my heart.

Love beating these shady cunts and old rusty bollocks.

That with just Salah in some form. :upside_down_face:

Jota played just some odd games while Mane and Firmino were largely anonymous.

Let’s start with Palace Sunday!

There hasn’t been a match that I’ve missed our starting CBs more than this one. Burnley spent 90% of the game hoofing balls to Wood. They wouldn’t have passed the halfway line with Van Dijk and Matip or Gomez playing. Phillips and Williams had their struggles, Burnley looked threatening all game long, but they weren’t bad, on the contrary. They stood up to them, they got physical and despite their lack of experience they got the job done. They can’t be commended enough. Phillips in particular. Scored a goal and saved one at the other end. Delighted both for him and AOC who got a crucial third goal.

Of course everything would be much easier if we could convert our chances; Mane missed a sitter again, Salah, Firmino, Thiago. We are creating now so many excellent opportunities to score, it’s such a pity that they go to waste because of inexplicably bad finishing. Before Firmino’s opener we had 8 attempts with 0 on target. Out of 20 attempts, just 3 were on target and all were goals.

It really defies logic that with so many problems at both ends we are one win away from securing a top 4 spot but here we are. One more game to go, let’s make it happen.

At the time, I didn’t realise that they were actually booing the knee; I thought that something else must have happened, that they couldn’t possibly be this daft and cuntish. But others have mentioned it as well and it really is no suprise. That’s Burnley for you and that’s why beating them always feels sweeter.

Fuck them and their neanderthal hoofball, the sooner they follow Allardyce out of the PL, the better.

Yes they booed the knee and Mane all the time why?

A lot of people think Mané is a diver.

Funny that and Harry Kane nor Sterling aren’t right? Some of the Burnley players were diving all the time and getting a free kick.

They are

a: English
b: not playing for Liverpool

You must know that alone makes them fall under a different set of rules.

Now chances go in (not all buz some of them) and everyone fells better

That’s because he is.

Isn’t he a footballer anymore?

Got to admit I was a doubter, didn’t think we’d get close to top four but I’m made up to be proved wrong. A great result to win so well at Turf Moor with some real nail-biting moments. Rhys looked frightened to death every time the ball came close and some of the pissing about at the back gives me heart failure. The only downside of the game was that Gini didn’t look interested to me and Milly or Curtis should take his place on Sunday. My MOM has to go to Nat… typical old fashioned centre half who gives everything to the cause. Come on lads 90 minutes more.

Great result in the end, though quite stressful to watch until the third went in. After that it was a case of being nervous that we didn’t concede, as a good goal difference is vital.

It wasn’t a great performance, we were wasteful once again up front, though the three of them looked more purposeful than for a while, looking for each other, Bobby running with the ball again between the lines and all three linking up quite well.

We were a bit shaky defensively, although each of them had a decent game individually, certainly in relation to their capabilities. Williams flapped a bit but dealt with some headers well, so made his contribution.

For me midfield was off it. Gini had one off his anonymous days (despite having had a rest), Fabinho wasn’t dominant, only Thiago thankfully was on his game.

We’ve done brilliantly to get into a position of top four being mostly down to us in the last match, but we need to sort several things out for next season if we want to challenge for the title.

We need to look at each player and take a call on their ability to stay fit and therefore contribute.

We need to see who of the first choice players leaves up top and replace them at the same level. We need to ensure we go into next season with more quality forward options given the African Nations Cup will take whoever is left from Mane and Salah away for nearly two months midseason.

Personally I’d move on Shaqiri, Origi and Minimino, push Oxlade into the forward squad, sign another forward and replace Mane or Salah if they leave.

We all know we need to sort things out at centre back, and consider how to rotate the full backs better.

Midfield is where we need to tweak it, as we have to be able to rotate there more with same level players. Gini is off, Milner ageing, Oxlade more a forward these days, Jones still not a regular in my opinion, Keita needs moving on. That leaves us with Fabinho, the injury prone Hendo and Thiago, plus possibly Milner’s last season and Jones. We need to sign a couple.

Anyway on to Sunday. Still not a given, we need to ensure we win by at least two, so there’s no last minute calamity. If we win, Leicester have to score five against Spurs.

To be honest, I’d be happy Kane getting the golden boot if it means he’s caused Leicester to drop points or win by a small margin.

Well he’s giving a pretty poor impression of one atm.
