Post match: Chelsea v Liverpool (EPL 2/1/22 4.30pm)

It’s a shot to nothing. Twat it and try your luck. Kovacic knows that if it doesn’t go in it’s a goal kick and we’re not breaking up the pitch.

Sorry mate, but it’s nowhere near a 1 in 1,000 finish. Pros would hit that to that area of the goal (2 feet either way) with much greater regularity than that.

I might go and record me doing it on the weekend if you like?

Henderson tries it 10 times a match and has scored about 2 since he’s been here. The rest leave orbit.

The ones coming at you straight on are far easier to time and keep down than the ones coming across you that Hendo had a couple of recently.

The difficulty of Kovacic’s shot was not the volley itself, but the fact he was struggling so badly to get into position to hit it, and had to improvise at the last moment.

Nope no way. Watch his movement before the shot he had to quickly adjust his feet with a kind of hop to get in position for the shot and that is what made the tariff of the shot way higher.

He didn’t just stand there and strike it as it came down.

BTW Hendo had 3 shots the other day from side on volleys and got no way near each time.

I would love to see you try and recreate that but has to be live and with the same movement he had

Totally agree the difficult went up x 10 with his adjust to get in position

If I have time, I’ll give it a go this weekend.

Will that be against Shrewsbury? Think even Adrian might feel he could do that…:joy::wink:

Not to belittle the goal because it was a bit special but the direction the ball came from and how Kovacic had to hit it did work on his favour. Even if he shins it, the ball gets top spin which will always give it some dip. Only if he strikes it 100% purely can he reach row z like that. I think that works in his favour but at the same time he was able to pick a corner etc. Great strike.

Trying to keep the ball down when volleying side on is far more difficult I think.

I can accept Kovacic’s goal. Poor free kick to give away but a great strike, it happens. The second goal however is much harder to take. So many errors in the build up.

Sky were so biased towards Chelsea it was ridiculous. The reaction of the commentators when Chelsea scored made clear where their loyalties lay.

Sadly we have some of our best players playing below their best. VVD and Fabinho probably the stand out pair for that. Fab is looking particularly poor at the moment.

I’m looking forward to that video, what will you be wearing? I hope it’s something stylish and colorful.

Hyberbole! However practicemakes perfect.

You were told 5 million times to stop exaggerating

To be fair I originally put 1000 times a match, so I felt I was quite restrained.

Also I still love Henderson even when he shoots for the moon.

No pratice makes permanent, you practice shit you get shit!

But perfect shit!

Permanent shite, which is poignant :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

let’s be fair here.

MLS is played in the summertime here in North America. Their season is already over nearly a month ago. they have no idea what it’s like to play on a blustery Jan evening in Stoke.

I don’t think it’s much of a surprise that Sadio’s dip in form pretty much correlates with the weather, annually. or that the games are much sloppier this time of year. a minor change in the performance of the winter ball in frigid temperatures can play havoc on the touch and feel of the ball. much less dancing and fancy footwork when it gets chilly.

I was thinking more of the utter lack of midfield control that either side even appeared to have an interest in - which you often see (saw? haven’t watched one in years) with MLS. The result looks like NBA basketball, up and down and not a great deal of side to side. We weren’t even switching from side to side with much regularity, very few crossfield diagonals. Now, some of that can be attributed to handling difficulties, but if that was the cause I would have expected to see significant numbers of forced turnovers by at least one side. It was more like both sides agreed to play without a real midfield.
