With Mo and Mane away and a few other key absentees all that matters is the three points.

But boiling the piss of the LiVARpool conspiracy theorists is a delightful cherry on the cake.

Notable that Minamino has only started one of the five games since the boys left for the AFCON and thatā€™s whilst Origi is injured too. Speaks volumes about where he is in the pecking order and surely a sign that his time will be up in the summer if we can find a buyer.

A shame we didnā€™t put it to bed earlier so we could give some more minutes to the likes of Morton and Gordon.

Divided opinions here on concerning the pen.
I bet if the same situation would have been in front of our goal these of us who said clear foul on Jota would say never a pen

He has beers on the team busā€¦?

Away win + a crate of beer on the team bus is tradition which is older than the game itself. :beers:

I guess I (sort of) understand some of the fume, but Palace players also get paid to do a job. A win is a win, and despite some mistakes we deserved the win. Itā€™s not as if Palace were robbed of anything.

Henderson really needs to wind his neck in. Itā€™s just obnoxious now, he has Curtis nervous to make any mistake. Maybe Cap can worry about his own game. I liked Robbo telling him to mind himself in the last match v Arsenal when he was calling for the ball and didnā€™t get it, Robbo instead making the better pass.

Nope, not me there. Definitely would have said it was a penalty.

You can bet your bottom dollar that Jurgen will now have one eye on the CL regards playing time, rest periods and allowing plenty of recovery time to the likes of Thiago, Naby and othersā€¦ We battling on two fronts shortly and whilst the sloggers and youngsters have done a fantastic job during the Xmas and Afcon periodā€¦ The season will be getting reset now for the rest of the campaignā€¦ we need to gather our second wind now, rest those aches and pains whenever possibleā€¦ The real season starts now.!

Ha okā€¦ :0)
Was thinking more that the silky skills of some of our players are better suited to CLā€¦

2nd goal was onside and it was definitely a penalty. I donā€™t care what anyone says.

Itā€™s a penalty and Micah Richards can fuck off.

Exactly. Which is no wonder nearly the same starting XI played 4 games in 10 days, some of them even 5 games in 13 days (if we count Shrewsbury in as well). Some of those players also had Covid not long before this run of games (Trent, Firmino, VVD, Jones, Fabinho). Take a look at the minutes (not counting injury time) our starting XI played since January 10:
Alisson 270 (well managed, just 3 games)
Trent 345 (almost full four games in 10 days, just two days after he returned to training after covid)
Matip 301 (he is only able to play two games a week, why start him for 4 successive games in 10 days?)
VVD 450 (full 5 games in 13 days, not long after covid; even he looked tired today)
Robertson 450 (almost full 5 games in 13 days - only subbed in the injury time v. Shrewsbury - at least he was well rested due to previous suspension and did not catch covid)
Fabinho 435 (nearly full 5 games in 13 days, not long after he got over covid)
Henderson 345 (almost full four games in 10 days, he really looked tired to me)
Jones 390 (5 games in 13 days, only missed an hour v. Arsenal first leg, not long after he got over covid)
Ox 150 (okay, he did not play too much, but was unlucky due to twisted ankle)
Firmino 368 (off the bench v. Shrewsbury, not long after covid, then started 4 in 10 days)
Jota 352 (almost full 4 games in 10 days)

So while I know there were only limited options available in midfield and attack, why did VVD and Matip have to start all four of the last games if we have two other very good centre-halves available? Why did Trent start immediately after returning from covid after just a day or two of training? I think those were the most problematic areas of the pitch today.

Winter break will do good for our players. Just hope Klopp will learn a lesson and rotate more in the following games. Because the game rhythm will be weekend-midweek-weekend right until the end of the season (at least if we have a decent run in the CL and maybe FA cup as well).

To be fair we tried our best to assist the Palace goals, I did expect better in the second half but we seemed to continue our form.

Though you feel if Hendo had twisted and scored instead of putting it wide weā€™d be talking about 10 minutes of Palace rather than them pushing us.

Glad weā€™ve got a break to be fair will help some.

Great first half, the second not so much, bloody terrible, but Iā€™ll cut some players some slack because it has been a busy time.
The 3 points gets us a bit closer to City with their recent draw,so all worthwhile.
MOTM Alisson, kept us in this, Robbo wasnā€™t too shabby, either.

Regarding the off-side shout for the secondā€¦ Donā€™t see much difference jumping underneath a through ball or jumping over a through ball if you intend to let it by-pass to a teammateā€¦ NO offside from my armchair refereeing :upside_down_face:

Agree with this. Itā€™s one thing we seem to have lost this season. Just a five minutes here and there of stemming the tide, rather than when being a goal up and under pressure, and Henderson still haring down to close the defender, who lofts it forward into space, and we are in a 2v2 situation.

Get that nous back from the last couple of seasons to alter style for a few minutes, regroup, then switch back to the press.

Nice write up. Though with Mo and Mane at AFCON, Klopp decided to play his best and match fit eleven in all games to mitigate their loss. And it worked, as we won the Prem gaems and got through to the final.

And as you hope, Klopp will most definately rotate in the coming months. With a long break coming up, Klopp decided to perservere with making as few changes as possible. His strategy worked.

I saw it the similar way. The Palace goal is the quirk of the post 2000 offside rules. The whole defence step up to make a player offside, and a well timed run from someone else breaks it. They are now moving in on goal, with the defencesā€™ momentum in the wrong deirection.

The Andy cross was intended for Ox, with Bobby having to stand on Crouchā€™s shoulders to get it. Yes, the defender is in position to deal with Bobby and not Ox as Bobby is goal side. Same as Matip having to step up to make Edouard offside. Palace passed to the well timed run, in the same way that Andy crossed to well timed Ox at the far post.
