Not even seen the game but you can add Matip to the list of players I’m running low on patience with.
His inability to stay fit makes the decision to go into the season with only three centre backs even more baffling.
We need to be looking for two more centre backs over the next year or so.
As for the result, we’ve grown accustomed to putting teams like that away without too much worry but we’re not going to see anyone blitz the league this season like we have for the past three or four.
Struggling to understand the criticsm of Minamino based on this game alone.
Other games he’s been poor and lightweight, today he was more combative and composed on the ball than Henderson and Wijnaldum. 2 or 3 times he stopped a Fulham counter attack when we were left exposed and he won the ball back which led to Henderson’s chance, our best of the game.
Not saying he lit the place up but it was a solid performance that helped us gain a foothold in the game. There were many lesser performances on our side.
That was a performance from a tired, injury ravaged team that came out hoping for a bit of a stroll in the park against a relegation threatened side that we usually beat comfortably.
Credit to Fulham for coming out so strong, recognizing that our own energy levels were not likely to be high.
We’re quite lucky to have the point, to be fair, and at least today was once where I think the VAR decisions were correct, after having already been cost 4 points so far this season in the Everton and Brighton games.
Alison was a difference maker for us today, and as to the outfield players, the brightest were Curtis Jones and Minamino, and think it’s no coincidence that they’re two of the few players that haven’t faced significant injury, yet also haven’t been over-played in terms of minutes.
Expecting a much better performance against Spurs at mid-week, with the game being at home and with fans present. Jose is going to come in hoping to break our home record streak (especially as his old Chelsea team holds the overall record in that category).
I’ve never, literally ever, believed we solve all our problems by going to market but we absolutely must buy center half in January. Fab is playing world class in the position but we positively need more depth there. Just my opinion.
I just see today as another example of the shit storm this season has become.
I’m not really bothered about he performances of individuals. The season has become so completely screwed up, you cant expect every one and every game to be a grade A performance.
if I were to be critical it would be our tendency to pump long balls into the box. That’s a personal thing as when the ball goes in like that it becomes a 50;50 and the second ball the same. Basically it’s a low percentage option I feel. But again had Thiago been available that wouldn’t happen as often. Again it’s not our fault that he isn’t available
Was thinking the same thing. I actually thought it was his brightest 45 in a Liverpool shirt, and he was one of the standout players, in so far as any of them stood out. Certainly I’d say there were 7-8 involved today who were much worse than him.
Still concerning, that nobody seems to want to pass to him.
Im not sure what the second part of your post means to the first. And I’m not being glib. I’m talking specifically our club. We need depth at center half.
As for who, the recruitment team gets paid to identify targets.
Omar Colley, for starters, has £10.8 release clause.
Yeah I agree it might be a challenge to find a bargain but they’re out there. I’m not talking about players like Upamecano or Konate or Skriniar or all the trendy big names being bandied about.
