At that point, we had Gomez on for Gakpo whom he is expect to fill in for a back 5.
During that particular play, We had literally 9 men in our own box ! You read that right, 9 men in our box marking a grand total of 5 Leeds player in our box. What the fuck is that sort of defensive organisation???
We had 6 defenders on paper and the CMs felt so scared that they folded into the box??
My point of having a 3rd CB doesn’t mean a CB has to close that player down. My point is even with an additional defender, we still cannot defend properly…

We could avoid having 9 defenders guarding 3 attackers in the box and deny Reed the space to shoot but when you are terrified of set pieces, this is what happens.

You only think that because of what happens next. If I could have paused time just before the shot and said “Harrison Reed is going to try and drive this into the top corner from thirty yards out’ anyone would think that’s perfect with 90 seconds to go.

Sad reality is we are not a particularly good football team anymore. Another game unbeaten is the only real positive you can take from that, doesn’t feel like the performance level has gone up that much despite the recent “upturn” in results.
Players look tired as a result of being stretched by the amount of injuries within the squad. First half performance was again so flat and we still do not look like we have any clear plan of how we want to move the ball forward and score goals.
Thursday is going to be rough, hopefully we can get through it without getting a hiding before some more favourable fixtures again (some new faces coming in soon would be nice as well).

The biggest issue is that player stood in our box with no one near him never mind Reed.
But yes our organisation is all over the place, we so miss an organiser like Hendo

What I say is why have 5 defenders on the pitch yet leave noone at all in midfield?

Absolutely, but the bigger problem is the Fulham player totally unmarked in our box. Letting Reed take a shot from there is absolutely not a problem.
All across the multiverse right now Reed variants are taking pelters from Fulham fans and teammates for talking on a minuscule percentage shot like that when they had a lad in pace in the box.

Been making this point elsewhere the quality is quite poor. I don’t actually think Man Utd have improved to the level they are for example.
