Post match: Fulham v Liverpool (EPL 4/1/26 3.00pm)

We do progress it ok in to the final 3rd then it just goes to pot, poor movement is the main issue as there is very few forward passing options.

Please, this is utterly sackable…The reason he is not gone yet is that no one credible has signalled to the upper management of LFC that they are ready to take over…

The current situation now is very similar to Brendan Rodgers’ final 9 months with us…The moment Klopp said ok, he’s gone…

They have 4 players in dangerous midfield areas. We have 7 in the box Vs 5. It’s clear they will shoot!

Tbf that result and performance was something we could witness during a title winning season at Fulham away. There were positives and negatives there, but nothing like how we played against Leeds.

For me it is starting to feel like how it was with Rodgers, few positives few negatives in every game but no good performances in ages. It feels like its not just bad form but just incompetent management and players not buying into the staff anymore. I could be wrong and would love to be proven otherwise though.

That’s one way of looking at it. Last season we were accused of winning a shit league because teams were taking points off Arsenal and City and so on.

I don’t think we won a shit league. I think we won a really strong one, and it’s the same this season. There are no fodder teams. Everyone can hurt you.

It can’t be given another season at this point to be honest.

This is exactly how I feel with Slot’s 2nd season.

I don’t think the club see it like that. Rodgers finished something like eighth.

Putting aside the wonder strike at the end, we showed some fight to get ahead after conceding the first goal (as per usual from the first chance).

The Prem offside tolerance was in our favour. Slot even tried to give it loads time to clear their heads by putting on Joe and Gakpo went for the ref handshake as well.

Instead, everyone was so on the edge in the last play that subconsciously they moved back towards the goal. It was a strike that he won’t ever do again.

In your first half, we had sterile play again. Too many players standing around and we mostly played in front of a disciplined defense.

We’ve gone defensively pragmatic lately, but we need to make more office passes and runs. To many players standing next to each other at times.

And had he ballooned it into the stands it would still be justified for a manager to be ripping them for not defending properly.

We may not have not changed anything had we got out to him Adequately. Sometimes premier league level players are that good. But that’s a defense you fall back on when you’ve done what is reasonably expected of you to have done. What is shown in that screen shot is pathetic. It’s the set up of a panel shocked side who no longer have faith in themselves to do the right thing because they’ve been e posed too many times when following instructions

I just read the match stats…Only 2 shots on target out of total 10 shots (Fulham had 2 out of 8). That is pathetic.

There’s something to be said for having collections of the most expensive players in the world play shit styles of football.

When he left, we were at 10th…

Look at the screenshot of the goal. It’s appalling defending. The defensive setup is horrible. 8 Liverpool players marking 5 Fulham players. Absolutely no one on the perimeter of our box to close any Fulham player.
The defensive block is low and invites a shot.
It’s the same damn type of defending we did against City. (second goal)
Clearly the coach doesn’t learn a thing and mistakes are being repeated.

If he hadn’t scored then his teammates could probably be rightfully pissed he didn’t see the simple pass to the unmarked player in the penalty area.

Mentality is a major issue for us and Arne seems to be lacking in instilling the mental toughness the way Jurgen did, but then all would fall short in regards to how Jurgen gets players mentallt ready and up for it.

Again, if I’m Slot I’m not tearing a strip off them for letting Reed take a shot. I’m tearing a strip off them for leaving a Fulham player totally unmarked in our box. That’s the pathetic bit, and really Reed should be playing that simple pass in for a much higher percentage chance than the one he took on.

I might not be a football coach at any level, but I see this differently.

Reed has 3 choices there. If he passes the ball to that unmarked player in front of him, Szobo will intercept it as the ball will end up in Szobo’s shadow. If he crosses to the far post, it favours Liverpool with them having so many people in the box for some bizarre reason.

The only realistic choice is to give it shot and shoot under no pressure from us. If VVD charges down the shot and gets within 15m of Reed, there is a high chance he blocks it…

I’ve already said it’s a terrible defensive set up.

The reason he hasn’t been sacked is because serious people aren’t reactionary like fans and top 4 will keep his job.

There isn’t a serious candidate we could or would want to go and get right now. And for all the clamour for Alonso if he gets sacked from Real Madrid, aside from playing for us I don’t see what he’s achieved that Slot hasn’t.
