Post match: Fulham v Liverpool (EPL 4/1/26 3.00pm)

Another draw that feels more like a loss, slot just does not have what it takes to be the manager of our club.
3 forwards out and Chiesa comes on 85 minutes, the minute we go ahead off comes a forward.
Fulham deserve a draw and I think if the game went on longer they could have won.
I have had enough of this slowball, it’s boring and putting fans to sleep .

You forgot to mention us having 3 players marking their most forward player who should be played offside and left to Alisson to take the piss out of.
Why don’t we push out when the ball isn’t in the area. It’s just inviting the opposition to have a go again.

damn that looks really bad. 9 in the box vs 5.

Maybe we thought the ref was going to close him down?

Is it just me or is anyone else pissed off with the amount of Blue boots our players wear?

Rafa banned them and rightly so.

Ok its the least of our problems. Just irks

All boots should be plain black. We should also be playing 4-4-fucking-2.

Yes you’re right, that forward is easily close enough for Alisson to deal with if the ball goes there. Everyone should be pushed up to the next line of attackers - in turn this would have naturally pushed a player out of the box and allowed pressure on Reed.

Frustrating day, that we couldn’t hold onto it after improving in the second half and battling away to take the lead late on. Glad to see Wirtz get another goal. It looked off at first to me, but I was happy they ruled it onside.

Their late goal? I think we are hitting all the points. An unexpected, low percentage worldie? Yes, definitely. But on our end we could have defended better too, instead of all bunching into the middle of the box in numbers. Someone should have been picking up the open player in the box as that looked like an obvious place we could have been hurt. And then someone should have been getting nearer to the shooter, to at least close it down or add another layer of difficulty for him.

Frustrating that we couldn’t close it out.

The football we played wasn’t our worst stuff, and the second half saw an uptick. Don’t get me wrong, still not great at all, but there was some endeavor there.

I think we could well finish in the CL spots and things will be up in the air on the manager. We are watching to see how we play in the second half of the season - does it give us hope for the future, and tell us that we are going somewhere good? And I’m sure the decision makers are watching to see what other managers will be available.

Arsenal coming up on Thursday. On form we should get whacked. Maybe we will show something unexpected and beat them? Can’t wait.

We certainly should, based on form.

But you never know…

I can.

I’d like to wait until we get all our injured players back plus another CB, work out a tactical plan that maximises the qualities of our squad, and relearn how to enjoy the game.

It may be a while.

Ponderous, late, couldnt catch a bus.

Struggling to see a plan, albeit shape is better and not conceding as easy. We cant break teams down with this. Not enough early passes means little opportunity.

i also , with the aid of an explanation and slow motions, still think Wirtz is offside.

if that was given the otherway id be rightfully fuming.

its very lucky that goal was given, we can talk about the fine margins of acceptance etc etc etc but when the ball left the boot of Conor, i have to say, im sure hes off

By the cut of the grass, he is most certainly offside.

Its a little more complicated than that. It begins with the rotations and the speed of that. But crucially, and within the rotations, you have to find the right balance between slowing down and speeding up. One breakdown is a counterattacking opprtunity…

Its been said b/4, but it comes with players being familiar with one another. I thought the 2hf was a good demonstration of this.

There’s no alternative to working thru this. Unless someone has a majic wand.

My main concern remains the leakages in our press. And if I had to guess, I think its down to physical issues with the players…

I think it’s just getting harder and harder to press teams. It’s something I noticed after a few years of Jurgen gegenpressing the shit out of the league. It got harder for his sides too. Teams just evolved and got better at playing out.
