Ex Howard Webb was who I was thinking about. :grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning: case closed. Are we being linked with any midfielders today.

Pointless signing midfielders until we sign some bent refs mate.

And that’s not how words work.

What is at issue is a judgment call, something subjective, over whether the contact was consequential enough for it to be a foul. You and I actually are pretty close in our view on this specific incident but you’re never going to get universal agreement on issues like this and this has to be factored into your expectations of the ref and of VAR.

Good thing about this game is I was able to go through twitter and cathartically block all the reactionaries. That, along with blocking the words “Pessi” and “Penaldo” has already it a much better place.

For what it is worth there will be lots of weird results this season, I think this could be the year Liverpool and Man City finally drop below 90 points as the World Cup makes such a massive difference.

It was the first game. We haven’t won or lost the league. Better to get the kick up the arse now and be on it, than have the usual dip after Christmas.

We played ok without clicking - it was more of the same from last season where the final third was more possession rather than penetration. It was also a sort of continuation of preseason - though an improvement in general. To an extent we’re a known entity with deploying the starting 11. I’m certain Firmino can be played out rather than in as he currently is - which may be the way forward (pun). Darwin will certainly be played that way. In the future, is it Darwin for most of the teams in the league and Firmino for the cups and Man $ity?

Correct but we started as we finished last season a few points behind Cheaty and I don’t like that one bit.

I wonder what the conversation would have been if we’d lost two nil?

  1. There’s no progress from last season?
  2. It was an off day?

These games are important as it bring belief (to me and the players also hopefully), that going a goal down is not the end of it. We can come back. Getting a point is no mean feat. We weren’t on it and got the point from a team that is in the best condition it will be in all season and are up for it because they are playing one of the best teams in the world. We have a long game to play, their game will be run by Christmas. Man $ity won’t have 38 wins. They will drop points. There is time.

All that from my remark that I don’t like it one bit …

Have a nice day.

A few?

Hopefully the World Cup will work in our favour this year. Key players getting a rest. Though Haaland resting also

It happened a couple of days ago, so really what you want to say is that they “came together”, or “they touched each other and came together.”, or “Vigil was pulling out, but they came together.”.

He’s going back to Madam Tussauds, for six weeks.

The world cup is a total crap shoot. Our first game is a mere 8 days after the final. Players who lose a final or semi in difficult fashion are going to have a hard time turning that around so quickly. Likewise with players who win. Imagine winning a world cup and then having a your winners medal swiped from you and told to get back to work? The whole thing is completely unplannable for. For me the only saving grace is Mo not going and that Klopp is likely going to be able to manage the fall out from it better than most.

Aren’t all teams in a similar boat though.

I doubt Uruguay will go far and Diaz isn’t going eithier. Our major concern is probably Brazil.
